I'm curious, what is more important to you, features on a cell phone or the service received on the cell phone?

Personnally, I have a passion for cell phones, but when it comes down to it, the service is more important to me. So when I get a cell phone at a decent price, the extra stuff are just perks. How do you feel?

service is big to me but my gripe is why should I be subjected to a carrier that disables standard features on new phones there is no reason why when a phone is aproved and designed to have a spesific feature set that the carrier will then go and "water down" the phone in pursuit for more money and then claim that its the latest technologies Examples of Verizon doing this is taking the MP3 player out of the 6256i even though its advertised in the nokia web site.. next the bt in general this technologies was to replace cords in example a USB cable yet verizon forces you to use it for some features the list can go on... I'm at that point where I am going to switch very soon if vzw does not change there current path

I understand where you are coming from, believe me I do. I've been through fits and everything else, then I stopped and asked myself is it worth switching over? And the answer for me is no. I can switch to another company, but I no that no other service provider is going to offer the same reliable service for me. Where I live, I am surrounded by three cell towers now. At one time my phone dropped calls when I was in my basement all the time. Now I get full signal strenghth in the basement. No other company can give me that. Not in my area atleast.

I for one won't leave Verizon. I have had other providers and they basically suck against Vzn. I need a phone that works when and where I need it and not a hyped up gadget from a second rate service. It's a phone first. I have had bricks, startacs, nokias, Samsungs, LG and a Treo 650. I have had service with ATT, Cingular, SNET, and Nextel. Now I have a RAZR with Vzn and it's the best and nicest phone that I have owned on the best network available. After the Treo I realized that it's a phone and not my laptop. You couldn't ask for a better setup even with the little problems that folks mention.

Because it's the SERVICE FIRST and then the gadgets. I need to make calls when and where I want. For that, no one beats Vzn hands down.

haha, you see, this is the whole picture 🙂

As Verizon customers (and I think I speak for most) we obviously choose service/network over technical features on a phone. If we preferred features and latest technology, we would be somewhere with GSM.

That doesnt go to say that we still arent tech junkies when it comes to the latest phone features - but we sacrifice because there is NOTHING worse than not getting a signal, no matter how fancy your phone is.

BUT, with that being said, we cant understand why Verizon goes OUT OF THEIR WAY to disable these features and functions that were already built into the phone for us. that is what all the screaming and yelling is about.

good post 🙂
