Yes, you can put different wallpapers on the screens.

Yes, the phone does click a little when opening/closing. I always use both hands to open flip phones, so I never find it hard to open them. If you open it with one hand, it might be a little hard to open. It is tougher to open than the Motorola 551 & Nokia 6102.

It's sturdy enough for me. I don't know what phones you'd be comparing it to though. My last three phones have been Sony Ericsson, and they have all lasted/performed very well.

I suggest just going to Best Buy or your local Cingular store to play around with the phone.

i always open my phone with 2 hands also, so opening/closing is easy on all phones, but it just bugs me when the hinge isnt kinda spring loaded as some would say, im coming from a moto v551. i went to the cingular store today and the guy recomended the nokia 6102, so far so good. if anything, i atleast have 30 days to trade for the sony. thnx for the info tho.

I wouldn't recommend this phone until the firmware is fixed.

I've heard a lot of people have had trouble with their z520's. I don't know if some people are trying to do too much with it or what (add animated wallpapers, etc.), but mine has been fine.

I had a little trouble with it dropping calls (even with a good signal) when I first got the phone, but when I turned the light effects OFF, I haven't had one problem with the phone. Crazy huh?!

I got my mom one for Christmas, so we'll see how hers goes also. If you happen to get a good, trouble-free phone, it is an excellent phone for the price.

There's been a very large number of complaints about this phone. The problems may vary with usage, but there are too many people having the more extreme of the problems. I am going to be putting my phone through various testing, including investigating the possibility the sim card is bad. There was reportedly about 50,000 bad ones in circulation, but so far these problems haven't been associated with the sim card, nor have other phones displayed this problem. However, this would explain why there are some people not having problems, and possibly why the z520i doesn't display these problems. This phone may just have a sensitivity to the problem that other phones don't have.

I don't know what it is exactly, but someone suggested the problem might be a memory leak, and that turning off your phone every day just for a few seconds helps.

I've been doing this and have been having good luck thus far.

We'll see how everything goes.

Yeah, I reported the memory leak possibility in another thread here, and it seems that theory has migrated to forums.cingular.com as well. If you want to avoid the problem, I recommend power cycling the phone regularly, once or twice a day. Right now I am in the process of testing the phone out to see if I can determine the problematic feature, and am just waiting for the problem to occur. I may also write a small application to help out.
