I'm looking at this phone to switch from Verizon and their evil upgrade policies...

1) what is the resolution of the Video mode? (VGA, 4CIF, CIF, QCIF, Sub-CIF)

2) what is the max length of a video clip?

3) what is the max size of the microSD card?

4) is the voice dialing in the phone INDEED separate from sprint's $5/mo plan? (covered extensively in another topic, but i just want to be sure)

5) how is the reception with the internal antenna? at my cabin my cousin gets 1-2 bars of sprint PCS on a candybar phone with his external antenna extended. digital or analog are acceptable, i just want to make and take calls - nothing fancy like web services or streaming.

6) i talk maybe 30-45 minutes a day on my phone and take pict...

1. I dont know what the acronym is for 2.0 megapixel, but i dont think its a vga.
2.Depends on your size of transflash card and how much stuff is on there. Pretty long. i would guess with a 512 mb (the biggest i know of) it would be about 15 min or more. Just a guess though. With the 32 mb it comes with i had like 2 min and still going.
3.512 mb
4.i dont know about this one
5.it s actually pretty good
6. major disadvantage of this phone right here i think. i just screw around on mine some days and i stick my on the charger every night. But then agian like every other night i listen either to the music store where i have like 2 songs, my mp3 player (different player), or sirius satelitte radio.
7. You cant use the one you get off sprint...

1. QCIF

2. Limited only to available memory

3. 512MB

4. Yes, there are no charges to use it

5. That really depends on how close you are to a tower, but it's definitely pretty good

6. You could probably go two days if you don't use the internet or MP3 player

7. No unfortunately. You have to create an m4a or mp4 file and then upload it using an uploader on the internet (which is easier than it sounds)...or buy them from a website. It don't think it will work off the memory card

8. It's easy with the MicroSD as long as you have a memory card reader. The USB cable that comes with it doesn't allow file transfers, it's only for using the phone as a modem. Bluetooth transfers to the PC are very easy.

i won't comment on the entire list as the others have. just wanted to say that as long as u charge the battery properly and, i.e. not over charging and not putting the phone on the charger before it is completely dead, you should get the full four hours of talk time listed in the tech specs as i have. i use my phone a lot for games, mp3's, talking etc and mine regularly goes for two full days.

on a 32MB memory card (on the I870 from Nextel anyway) you can't get very long videos, plus the 870 has veriable resolution. on a 512MB microSD card, the 870 can get over an hour of video at a decent resolution, but the captures are limited to an hour at a time. hope that helps you with the SD card size question. basically, your videos are smaller than you think they are. i just don't know if the 940/970 has veriable resolutions.
