Um, didn't Motorola decide NOT to release the mpx300 in North America? Or was that the mpx200?
Anyway, I haven't heard too much on the 300, but I've read in a few forums that it's kinda buggy. And I think in one forum somebody said Cingular said they weren't going to carry it because of the cost or something.

What Motorola phone ISNT buggy? Motorola is like the Ford of cell phone, pure crap! At least these days, there was a time and era where Ford did dish out quality stuff.

Unfortunatley, the MPX (300) was never released in the US. 😕 However, I'm still holding out, hoping it makes a comeback. I still think that form factor tops any smart phone I've seen.
For now, I'll keep my MPX220, because I like it, and I've yet to really see anything come out and catch my eye.
I don't get the color scheme on this Samsung, either. It's kind of ugly.

The MPX2xx is a POS. I think this handset without the camera will sell to business customers since it has a email client and bluetooth. The high end non-camera phones are going to make a come back since people like me can't take them to work!

i suspect that this is actually market version of that whole production line. think about it: the whole MPx line was an outsourced project (some far asian company called "chei mei" or something), moto pulled out of that line of phones entirely because they were horrible POS's. What does that company do? Same thing they wanted to do for MOTO, but for Sammy, who doesn't ask for things like WinowsMo yet, or asking to cram a camera on it.

I very seriously considered taking the risk and purchasing an MPx300 from ebay (found a local guy that would let you pick it up in person). But, all of the reviews and warnings about that phone scared me away.
If it worked and had a carrier it would be the perfect phone for me. My job has me traveling nearly every week...I would pay big dollars for a phone with those functions. No phone I've found has that feature set...they all are missing at least one thing that would be important to me (850 band, edge, bluetooth, wifi, windows mobile, etc.)

more and more smart phones will have wifi and more importantly - 3G. the nokia 9300 should be coming to Cingular, that might meet your needs. then there's the HTC devices (sold as the Siemens SX66 and the Audiovox SMT5600) - ANY of these would make a much better phone than thatMPX. I'm looking at getting a smart phone too, but may want to hold out until we see more HSDPA products

I've seen the new HTC with Windows Mobile 5.0 (in magazines) and that looks interesting. I have the Audiovox and it and the Seimens don't have Edge. The keyboard is the main issue. I need to respond to email. The MPx300 probably doesn't work because it has every feature you could want crammed into a small form.
When the Nokia 9300 comes out in 850 band...I'm going to get it for travel so I can leave my laptop at home, but this Samsung looks like a good daily user (small enough) that will give me a usable email keyboard.
