mp3 question

So I got the TransFlash memory card and the card reader. So I put the card in the phone and turn off the phone and turn it back on, then take out the card and put it into the reader. But the problem is that when I go to my computer and to the card there is no MY_MP3 folder to put the mp3's in. There is MY_FLIX, MY_PIX, MY_MUSIC, MY_SOUNDS. So i tried to put the music in the MY_MUSIC folder, but it doesnt want to open in my phone? What do i do? (and i made sure there were mp3 format)

Thanks,
Rskate2

The phone has the newest software for VCAST Music and therefore the MP3 player no longer works, only the music service. Music must now be in WMA format. You can get the Music Essentials Kit from Verizon and use Windows Media Player 10 to add all your MP3's, which will automatically be converted to WMA format, then easily sync them to your phone. You can then make playlists, etc. There is so much more on this subject, too much to explain. Search the forums (here and on the Verizon Wireless forum) for VCAST MUSIC and you should find everything you need to know.

You can put music on without the essential music kit. You need Windows Media Player 10. Open the mp3 in WMP10 and Sync it to your transflash card, then open Windows Explorer and move the file(s) you synced to your transflash card to the Music directory on the card. That is all you need to do. Good luck!

You can't set those as your ringtones, but you can send MP3's to your phone in an e-mail attachment to your your10digitcellnumber@vzwpix.com, then save it to your sounds, then go to sounds and set it as a ringtone.

I tried the sync too, it werked but not 100%

i have 108 songs on the transflash, at first only 40 showed up. then i edited filenames to less than 32 characters and took out any punctuation, 60 showed up. After tryin the WMP10 sync method the phone now sees 70. It helped, im just confused, i actually edited down the file names to less than 25 characters and still only seeing 70 of 108, any suggestions?

All right friends, I've read through anything having to do with music on all 14 pages of threads and still I am having difficulty putting songs onto my phone. I have the brand new model that doesn't accept mp3s. Here's what I've done...

1) Initalized the card by putting it into the phone and turning it off and back on... success, there were 4 folders added just as stated above.

2) Put the card into a card reader in my computer... folder still showed up... good sign

3) Shortened the name of 1 mp3 file to 24 letters

4) Synced the file using Windows Media 10 and moved it into the MY_MUSIC folder... however, when I look at the properties of this file, it still says it's an mp3 file and while the phone recognizes there is a file taki...

How are you transferring your songs from Windows Media Player 10 to your phone? Are you putting them in WMP10 then dragging them to your folder on your card? That might be the problem. If you sync them with the data cable that came with the MUSIC ESSESNTIALS KIT, they will convert automatically and go straight to your card.

I'm not using the Music Essentials Kit. I'm trying to avoid buying extra stuff in my life. I'm sure that since you're plugging your phone in to do that, that Windows Media would recognize that it needs to convert it into a WMA file.

I'm simply plugging the card into a card reader in my computer and then going to SYNC in WMP 10. Since the card doesn't care what type of file you put on it, WMP probably simply leaves it as an MP3. I was hoping there was some option on WMP that you could choose to change the format it syncs to. I'm not just dragging them, I'm actually clicking on the SYNC function, but that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks for your quick response. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise we'll just ...

I just purchased my 950 today so I may be off target here. WM10 only converts songs from a cd. I put an original cd in my drive, selected a song and "rip it to my "my_music" folder on my flash drive. Played with no probs on the phone. I am going to burn some of my mp3's and try to repeat the process. there may be other ways but this one worked for me.
