What I can tell you...

I work for Verizon Wireless and we just got the 950 in stock at Circuit City today. The phone is being released in Circuit Citys on Sunday, stores on Tuesday, and is available online now (as many of you already know). The one I used today was not active, so I could not actually make any calls on it. So anyone who wants to give me a hard time about my info, don't say I didn't preface what I'm about to say sufficiently.

From what I can tell, the camera does have a slight delay, much like the LG8100. I used the speakerphone to try to activate the phone (even though I knew it had no number assigned) in order to test the clarity of the speakerphone. It seems to be clearer and just as loud, if not louder, than the 8100. In addition, the speake...

What do you think about the looks compared to the 8100? Oh, and do the buttons on the front have a backlight?

Piggys,
No, the front buttons do not light up on the Samsung 950. That's one area that the 8100 is better.

Also, although the external screen is good on the 950, I honestly don't think it comes close to the 8100.

Still waiting to see if you can read text messages on the outer screen of the 950 like you can on the 8100. If so, I'm going to take the plunge. The fact that you can use the speakerphone with the actual flip closed on the 950 is a HUGE selling point to me, as I hate having to keep the flip open on the 8100 when using it's speakerphone. It's a real drag, so much so, that I almost never use it because of the hassle.

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was that the 950's voice dialing seems to be a little more a...

Thanks! I wonder why they didn't think to have a backlight for the front buttons. That kinda bites. I think I'm going to be sticking with the 8100 - I can't seem to find my receipt. Hopefully they'll find a volume fix. Oh well...

What about this:

(supersonic said) "Camera: This is a mixed bag. The quality of the camera/pictures seems to be much better on the Samsung phone, but this comes at a price. If you take pictures and want to store them as one of your contacts, the maximum resolution is 320 x 240. At least on the LG, the max resolution for contacts is 640 x 480. Perhaps this can be changed somehow, but I spent close to 20 minutes on this alone, and every time I tried to save a picture into contacts at a higher than average resolution, it would say that the maximum resolution can only be 320 x 240 which is pretty lame."

Is there a way to change this and have it like the 8100 (640x480 for contacts)?
