Who is Pantech?

Did they buy out Audiovox? If so, then why are some 'Vox phones known as Starcom (which reminds me of the old Motorola StarTech)?

Actually, nevermind! A trip to the Korean company's website answers one question, anyway:

"...just 31% of Pantech's sales were made under its own brands. The company sold 4.5 million phones to Motorola Inc. and 6.7 million to North American distributor Audiovox Corp."

UTStarcom, which makes (?) the Snapper, is less forthright with their company information. However, when selecting the 8615 the name Audiovox comes up.

Maybe Audiovox is not so much a brand as a distributor of phones other companies make, as suggested by the Pantech site. So anything called Audiovox could be made by anybody!
