Computer Does not see or recognize phone when using cable

Hi, I got the Vcast Music kit and tried plugging in my phone to the pc. Nothing happens. I took it to a buddys house and as soon as I plugged it in, worked fine. I tried the usb port it works fine, anything else I plug in, is recognized. Just the phone is not. Please, anyone ever ran into this?

that usually happens when the usb port is not a "2.0" port.....check to see if your port is 2.0.

i had that same problem with bitpim,my Port was a 1.0...i needed a 2.0
