Is the LG VX-9800 available in the Verizon Stores or is it only available for purchase on-line?

In the Bay Area, it's at the least available in the Verizon store in Corte Madera.

Great! Thanks to you both. I will check with a local store here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast if one is still standing after Hurricane Katrina.

If you can I would buy it at a local store, this way if you have any trouble with it, any of the keys are dead, etc., it makes for easy returns/exchanges.

Even if you do purchase online, though, and need to return/exchange, you can do it at a store also.

Thanks Josh and Mary. Very good tips. I think I will go to the Gulfport store today. The Biloxi, MS store was wiped out by Katrina. First, I need to figure out this Mobile Web 2.0 and how it will work for me. I see where there is a $5/month charge and I "assume" it uses your minutes when used? Wondering how fast it is? Cable or DSL fast or something less? I am not in a VCast area. Also, I see where Verizon is "Out of Stock" on cases for the 9800 but I found on eBay this offer...

which says it has a "Magnetic Strap" and that gave me some concern...magnetics around anything electronic not good I thought...

Well...I went to the local store. It was full of customers and impossible to be seen by an associate. They did have a 9800 on display and I spent 1/2 hour checking it out. I was very impressed. Finally, gave up and left. Will try again later.

If anyone can brief me on Mobile Web 2.0 usage (is it effective at Web browsing and email?) and the Verizon option of Unlimited IN Message PLUS (some quantity) additional messages, it would be appreciated.
Many thanks!

Web browsing will use your minutes unless you use it during off peak hrs. I have the 8100 and I go to most sites but if you are asking if the 9800 has full page viewing capabilities that I do not know.

I have the $10 IN TXT/PIX package that comes with 250 "other" txt and pix messages. I found that the $5 50 "other" messages was way to low for me. But the 250 is perfect for me.

Thanks!
I understand that if you select the VCast Pak Option @ $15/month, this option comes with Unlimited use of Mobile Web 2.0 even if you do not use or even have access to VCast. You can even "turn off" 1xEVDO and still use the Web Cast 2.0 at the National Access speed which even though not too fast, it does work. Is my understanding correct?

I purchased the VX-9800 today at a Gulfport, MS Verizon store. It was not crowded today and I was able to get good service. I was informed by the sales rep that if you do go with the VCast Pak option @ $15/month, the option will come with Mobile Web 2.0, then you will enjoy unlimited web browsing with no charge to your minutes. My initial testing of that today indicated that is the case. I will continue to monitor but I think there will not be a problem. When using Mobile Web in a non-EvDO situation, your browser operates at the National Access speed which wasn't too bad.
Lots of features and things to evaluate over the next two weeks. So far, there's been no problem.
