SE Site: K750i coming to U.S.

The K750i has appeared on SE's U.S. site. No details yet, but it's listed as "coming soon." Don't know if it will be exactly the same as the non-U.S. version or if they might have a Cingular variant (i.e., 850 MHz).

Interesting that it's not listed as the D750i - the same phone for T-Mobile in the UK. Don't know if that means the K750i won't be coming to T-Mobile in the U.S., or if some other carrier might pick up the K750i and T-Mobile will bring over the D750i eventually.

I know it can be bought online and used with T-Mobile, but it's nice to see that (eventually, at least) it will be officially supported by a U.S. carrier.

any idea when?

I want to get my hands on this phone, but I'm worried about it lacking the 850 band. Anybody know it's effectiveness in the bay area, San Francisco? Also, where can I get one?

thanks.

I have been to the Sony Ericsson US site several times and have not been able to find anything hinting that this phone will be coming to the US at any time. As far as I can tell this phone is not even listed on the US site, period?

it is true. both the k750i and d750 (as well as the w800i, i believe but can't confirm) have been approved by the fcc for use in the US. in addition SE has said at events that the K750 and w800 will be sold in the US. HOWEVER that does not mean they will be sold through a carrier (i.e. t-mobile). while i believe t-mobile usa could really use a phone like the d750, there is no guarantee that is what will happen.

it could very well be these phones are merely sold through sony ericsson's online store for the us. in addition, it should be noted that SE has now removed the k750i from their US website, but the W800i remains.

K750 is not available on SE's US site. Or at least it isn't at this time.

Did you see the K750 on the SE site?

I purchased the K750 in June 2005. I always go to SE's UK site for the K750 support.

Furthermore, because the K750 (or W800) do not support GSM 850, the receiption on my K750 just got dropped on Nov 6, 2005 because Cingular decided to take down their GSM 1900 in Oklahoma City and smaller market areas.
