Just purchase an unlock SLVR L7 online. Are there any setup issues with existing Cingular SIM?

I received mine and it wasn't programmed for Cingular's network. I called tech support(during office hours of course) and they walked me right through the programming. Took maybe 10 to 15 minutes. It has been all good since. I love the phone and the service from Cingular. 😁

So, putting my existing SIM card into the new phone does not work right away. Can you tell me what is done during the programming? Does it limited SLVR L7's functionalities? 🙂

The phone will recognize the SIM card; but Cingular network was not programmed in the phone. I had to add Cingular's network (in the phones network settings), then I was in business. I just called and told the tech I needed their settings and they walked me through it. I haven't noticed any limited capabilites. It is pretty much the razr in bar form. I use text messaging and the internet with now problems. I did notice that the GPRS symbol isn't visable, not sure what that means (maybe because my phone has Edge) 🙂 .

I am not sure if I told you my phone is the United Kindom version so it came with overseas networks programmed in it. Cingular's channel or network has to be added.

Depending on the sim card that you currently have it may limit to what you are able to do with the slvr. What i recommend you do is stop at any cingular store and they will give you a new sim card for free. Ask them to give you a 64k 3g sim card. It has just been released by cingular and will allow you to browse the internet faster and do many things when there new internet network launches.
