Hi, y'all. I'm looking at buying this beautiful smart phone, but am wondering if it's overly ridiculous for me, since I'm not the power user you guys seem to be. I'll be using primarily for personal use, no work involvement as of yet. My main focus (and why I was looking at the Treo as well) was that I wanted an all-in-one phone. I want something that wont be too heavy or big, something that has a nice color screen, something that plays MP3s at the gym (good sound and speakers/headphones are always good), something I can download my schedule/calendar/phonebook into (so that I can actually use this as a PDA) and a good, all around phone. I'm looking for one piece of equipment that will replace my PDA, phone and MP3 player, but...

Have you looked at the verizon xv6700? I've tried both the Samsung i730 and the treo 700w. The i730 didn't have mms and camera. And the 700w didn't have any reception. I've had the 6700 for a week and am very happy with it. It has good memory, bigger screen than 700w, great camera and video and the nicest keyboard on a phone I have used for verizon. And the most important thing is that the 6700 has the same reception that the lg 8100 and 9800 did. AMAZING! If you have specific questions fire away, I check through here at least once a day. Hope this helps.

Hi there, Lgrulz...

So I looked at the Verizon XV6700 along side the Samsung, and what really turned me on to the 6700 was the pull out keyboard -- the buttons on the Samsung were TINY, and my fingers aint all that big -- it would have been really difficult to type emails, etc on that tiny lil keyboard.

However, I get the 6700 home and am now having problems... since this is my first smartphone, I'm not sure if these problems are normal (for these types of phones) or if it's me... it's me, I just know it's me!!! First issue: Having problems syncing up with my puter to download contacts/emails/calendar from Outlook. Second problem (which I've read is common): programs don't shut down (even when you push the close button) and there...

To Lgrulz,

I am also looking at the Samsung i730, the Treo 700w an I have considered the XV6700. Now that it has been several months that you have had and used the XV6700, what do you think?

I am currently using the Kyocera 7135 Smartphone running PalmOS. I love this phone, but I am no longer able to get and hold a signal so I am forced to upgrade to a new phone and I am asking for as much input as I can get.

Thanks!

HI,
I have had both the xv6700 and the i730. One of the issues that you are having( programs not closing and hogging memory is a problem on all ppc devices..700w,i730,xv6700) YOu have to manually go in to memory and close programs...the reason it will be more noticeable on a treo or 6700 is that there is less available memory than the i730. Personally, I feel that the i730 has the best reception, but it does have more of a learning curve than the Treo's. The motorola q may be the perfect fit for you...it doesn't have a touchscreen, has great reception, and sound quality, will play mp3's but may be a bit more user friendly and easier to understand plus it's cheap! It's a smartphone instead of a Windows ppc so it is a bit less complicated. I ...
