Problems making calls....

I just got the VX8100 yesterday with version 6 software on it and had a problem with it today that I was hoping someone could shed some light on. When I was trying to make outgoing calls, my phone would say "Connecting" for about 30 seconds before timing out and saying that the call could not be completed. It was also dropping calls very badly and taking a while to register when new voicemails were received. Anyone else run across this problem or have any idea what would make this happen? Any help would be appreciated. I love everything else about this phone, but if I can't make calls, it's not worth keeping. I have 13 days left of my trial period, so I need to figure out what to do...

this could be a hardware problem. are you receiving decent signal where this is happening?

one hint. type #4357*4357 this should bring up your general info screen. scroll down and check your "PRL Version" write that down real quick. now do your standard ota, *228 send. option 2 once it prompts you. then recheck the info screen to see if it updated your prl to a higher number. a lot of stores do initial programming using *22890 which we are now being told is not proper.

if problems continue take it back to the store and have the technicians check it out.

It happens regardless of whether I have a full signal or no bars whatsoever. I'm even having a hard time sending my text messages. I tried doing what you said and I can't even keep a call long enough to update the phone. Looks like I may have to take it back to the store. If this keeps up, I'll be switching phones...

keep in mind. as long as you can duplicate the problem for the technician they should be able to swap yours for a brand new out of box 8100. not a refurb. this still doesn't affect your 15 day return exchange period which is from the day you bought the first 8100. just a thought.

If I were you, I would definately take it back to the store and just tell them the problems you are having and have them give you a BRAND NEW one since you are within your 15 days. Just take your box (with UPC intact-if you've already removed it to send in your rebate they will only give you a refurbished even though you are still in your 15 days), and also your charger and paperwork that was in the box.
