don't think it fixes anything, only adds mod service. I know when i tried the camera on the newer version next to mine it was the exact same delay, so i am fearing they didn't address some of the other problems i have heard people gripe about on here, such as volume bug.

all i want to know is if you can close the phone while on speakerphone that would be the best. i dont really care about camera delay and I have not had volume issues on mine. My 8100 works great other than the closing the phone for speakerphone. If anyone has info on this let me know.

if you plug a 2.5mm jack(headphone adaptor) into the phone whenn the call is initiated you can then close the phone pull out the headphones and speaker phone will worked closed.

Also works if you have a bluetooth headset. YOu can answer the call with the headset...put the phone itself in speaker mode, close the phone, and then transfer the call from the headset back to the phone, and walla! Speakerphone while closed.

I still dont get why people need the phone closed to use the speakerphone. Isnt it usually on a table or other flat surface when using the speakerphone? I could see if the phone was on your hip when using the it. That would be annoying for it to be open on ones hip. Is that why people want it to be able to be used while closed?

Yeah there is only a delay in the Camera if you have it set to the maximum resolution. If its set to the next lowest setting (640X480) there is no delay.

yeah i realize that, but what is the point of pimping you megapixel camera phone if you don't take pics on maimum setting. I don't really care myself, i never use the camera, i was just stating it for the people i have seen complain about it on here

True. I know the VX8000 had no such delay, but the tech used on the 8000's camera was newer..they went back to the older technology in the 8100.

That of course is far from the truth. If you've read these posts, you'll see that's not the case. This phone pretty much sucks, there is a major volume problem with no fix in sight (and yes I know not everyone has it, however many do--how many people on this board have had multiple phones?), the camera delay also seems to have no fix in sight (plus it takes crappy pics). The speaker phone should work when close, without the workaround that we're all familiar with, and bluetooth on it is very mediocre. Maybe it does play music (athough with a 2.5mm jack, the ability to do that is ridiculously limited-phones can have a std 3.5mm jack on them, as some newer phones do). All is all, poor execution, and poor follow up, of a good idea.

and here I thought I bought my 8100 for the use of a PHONE..... If you want a camera go buy one. If you want perfect stop your car and use a land line. If you want everything the guess what don't buy the phone. I have had the phone now for a few weeks and could not care what type of pictures it takes. I snap a shot of a person and use it for their picture to see whos calling. I do hate digital phones due to dropped calls but it is what it is. An imperfect phone I have learned to live with it.

If you read the comments posted here, including mine, you'll note the the biggest problem people have, and the one that does not appear to be getting fixed, AND the one that most people have returned the phone for, is the volume issue. Not sure how you don't see the need to hear a caller as being important to phone use, however when I make a call, I find it just goes better when I can hear what the caller is saying.

I am glad we have no volume issues here. We have sold tons of these phones and never heard one complaint and mine works great, i swear it differs by market, that is my opinion since the volume bug is almost a non issue where i am at. I think has to do with the way the phone and the netwrok connect, maybe different for area your in. I do wish the camera was better, but i don't use it that much. If i had to rank just reception and call quality i would say my 8000 was a little better, but the 8100 gets the total package award for me, best phone i have ever had and i have had a few. It is not without out it's problems, but compared to the razor and the 815 and 950 i felt and still do feel it is the best choice, and the 8000 was just to big. I tr...

Ok, couldn't handle the fluctuating volume issue anymore, and went to Ver store 45 min ago. They gave me a brand new phone again. The girl I spk to said that ALL the 8100s had low volume, that's just the way they are etc. I explained that it wasn't an issue of just low vol, that it fluctuated etc. and wold get stuck on such a low vol that I couldn't hear the person on the other end. So they gave me a new one without any arguing at all. Not sure if this one will have a vol issue, however it sounds like a lot of people don't have that issue, so maybe I'll get lucky. The box had a green dot on it, noticed it clearly. Also check this out: it's version 4 software, however there is NO camera delay at all now, on 640x480! Not sure what that's ab...

There has never been a delay with 640X480 as far as the Camera goes (with version 4).

On the high quality mode there is still a delay but I think that has more to do with the camera technology than with Verizon's software. Remember the camera technology on this phone is a step back from that used on the VX8000.
