Here is how to enable BT DUN. I have not tried it yet, but should work.

Menu 0...Service code (000000)
Data 4
6. BT DUN Mode
And change from Disable to Enable.

I do not have a BT adapter for my Laptop so can not test it. Let me know if this works.

I'm sorry but I'm cellphone illiterate and trying to learn as much as I can about new cell phones especially the lg vx8100. What exactly is BT Dun, and what it is used for?

It is bluetooth dial-up networking, meaning if you have a bluetooh laptop you can use your cell as a modem wirelessly.

it is used to be a modem for your computer, laptop, whatnot. i BELIEVE it stands for dial up network, not sure though. if you are already connected through the interenet with your computer now, don't worry about it 🙂

This is a really basic question--but after enabling DUN on the phone, do you have to also subscribe to the carrier's data package for internet connectivity?

Ok, so I followed this process and added the connection to the Bluetooth manager in my PC. The device was found and appeared to pair ok. The next step was that my bluetooth manager asked me if I wanted to create it as a serial connection or for DUN, so I selected DUN.

Then it asked what type of modem it is. Is there a modem driver? When I used to do this with a Motorola phone I had a Moto driver (its still in my settings.) Do I just use a standard modem 56000 or something?

Is there a "bluetooth phone modem" driver floating on the net I am supposed to use?

Sorry for the post to myself, but I thought I'd share what I learned. I used the automatic (not custom) mode on my Bluetooth manager software (Toshiba Portege M200) which chose the driver for me. It used the Standard 33600 modem.

Works pretty well. I just use it for dialup - not VZW's web, so I don't see how they would complain about me misusing their network - it should just be minutes as I have to dialin to a corporate network. But it is pretty cool!

I paired my laptop up with my 8100. However, it says:

Device "LG 8100" does not support Dial-up Networking.

Any suggestions?

Go to Bluetooth Devices in your control panel and select the phone on the devices tab. Then click properties and click the services tab there should be two boxes there one for DUN and one for SPP just check both of them, you need the SPP one to use BitPim I believe.
