What to do? Trade e815 for VX8100 or not?

I currently have the e815 and already have another e815 on the way to replace this one due to earpiece speaker vibration and poor quality audio when listening to people. I also have been having problems with the software and freezing. I press the camera button and many times the viewfinder won't appear on the screen and I have to power down and up to alleviate the problem. Also, several times when deleting pics, phone froze?

My issues with the e815

1. Earpiece in phone has terrible quality
2. Camera, viewfinder image looks great, when the picture is taken, quality diminishes.
3. Opening the phone doesn't have the "solid" feel I have been used to (with older Motos and LGs and Sammys).
4. Ability to apply pics as wallpa...

I am in the same dilemna as you are! I have the e815 and it is a pretty good phone. The reception is much better than my lg 6100, the internal screen is great and the battery life seems somewhat better than the 6100. I have not had any of the major freezing problems or VCast issues.

Although I love all of the extra gadgets such as the camera, speakerphone, bluetooth - battery was the big reason I bought this.

can anyone comment on the battery life on the 8100? My cell phone is my primary phone and I want a good battery life. Also what about the compatibility with the motorola 850 headset? Are there any bugs with the bluetooth????

Most definitely switch to the VX8100. The two phones are not even in the same league. It is kind of like deciding between a Yugo and a Honda. The only advantages the e815 has over the VX8100 is that the speaker-phone can be used when the phone is closed and some flashier menu graphics. The VX8100 wins in build quality, functionality, design, looks, etc...

I usually never let battery life affect me too much on a decision. With the availability of extended batteries and such, you can usually get more than enough life from a phone before recharge.

I understand, looking at the specs, the MOTO has more life but just throw an extended in the LG when they are avaiable and you will surpase the MOTO. Just my opinion...

Don't listen to any opinions that are extreme, anybody who says that the differences are huge is a kid. The reality is that the phones are close in features and specs, whether you perceive the build quality, prefer the speaker phone or vibrate mode on one or the other is subjective. The differences spec wise that caught my attention were the size of the display, battery life and phone book. Assuming that my phone operates properly, those features would seem to give the E815 an edge for my use of a phone which is making and receiving calls. For all of the kids out there participating in this forum, they may feel that the differences are larger because they have the time to screw around customizing the phone or have expectations that the c...

I am afraid I have to disagree with Andy. Build quality is not subjective. It is a pretty easy thing to tell when one item is better made than another. My e815 was flimsy and the seams moved and the bottom of the body where the battery charger attached would actually bend if you gripped it too tightly. Preferences towards different things like graphics or operating systems are subjective and I think most people on here are clear about expressing their opinions as opinions. The e815 does have a bigger internal screen but the external screen is a joke in my opinion. The e815 also has a better keypad in my opinion. Just seems more finsihed than the 8100's. The LG keypad just seems a little plain to me like their graphics.

I am in the same dilema i purchased the e815 with the intent of exchanging it for the 8100 right now i actually work for verizon and we literal just got the 8100 in stock on tues not on sale til fri I had a chance to play with the 8100 and to tell you the truth i am not impressed it was a big let down heres how they stack up side by side

Camera: 8100 wins out camera quality is amazing on the phone plus when taking a picture it you can see it on the outside and inside

battery : haven;t actually had enough time to check my moto lasts about 2 1/2 days standard bat

signal: get back to you

style : moto i think is a lot sleaker looking although the 8100 did suprise me its not as big as the 815 but it is thicker

speaker: the 8100 i...

to tell you the truth im torn i really did not like the 710 but the 815 i think is just amazing but i am a huge lg fan so still deciding hope this helps some people in deciding

I agree with your comparisons. I have stated the e815 wins in several catagories. I had a V710 for a whole 2 days before the front buttons started falling off and the housing started to seperate. The e815 is leaps and bounds above the V710. I was the opposite. I am a big moto fan and always hated LG so this is a departure for me.
