I was leaning torward the 8100 the whole time until the threads that I have been reading about the MP3 player. Is it correct to assume that the e815 CAN play mp3 that have been downloaded from a pc into a mSD card, and the 8100 can't? As much as I like LG, if the motorola can be used as a true mp3 player, I may have to go with the 815 ☚ī¸

You can add an iPod to your Christmas list... best purchase I've EVER made (and the Alpine iPod custom stereo deck!!)
If you want a phone buy a phone... that happens to have a camera, an mp3 player yada yada (obviously we all do) but if you want an mp3 player buy an mp3 player. Which is more important to you right now?
A cell phone isn't going to be capable of holding/playing hours upon hours upon hours of songs for a while (and I'll continue expecting my Cannon to keep dropping calls in the meantime), unless of course you want to listen to the same 5 songs over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over...

I wanted to get the Lg also but heard the same thing..I have the Motorola E815 and downloaded MP3's from Walmarts music catalog (thanks to info left in this forum) and it works great..no problems..they sound awesome too. I had the lg vx6000 and was happy with it..loved the menues and the voice reconition was much better than this motorola. Would really love to know the answer before my 15 days are up??? Camera/video is awful in the motorola E815 also. Hope all works out and we both find out the answer we need to make our decision!!

I have to say that the camera is very good on the e815, especially for a cell phone. 😁

I got tired of waiting for the 8100, I'm very impatient! So I went and got an 815 last week and the other day I ordered the transflash card and reader from the Motorola website, recieved it today and it took about 5 seconds to put my mp3 songs from my computer onto the card, put the card in and immediately had my music!!!!!!!
Up until then, I was still calling Verizon stores in my area to see if they had the phone yet so I could look at it and maybe still trade, since my 15 days won't be up until the 20th, but now I think I'm done searching for the 8100 because now I'm convinced I have the better phone!

just wondering if you tried the evdo/vcast yet on your better phone?? Motorola's have such good sowtware in them they can't even load the right one into the phone since half of them were recalled, it will only be a matter of time before the moto bombs start blowing off peoples hands. đŸ¤Ŗ

Moto is leagues better than LG ever thought of being! Motorola's the only ones smart enough to make their charge ports different from everyone else's. This eliminates the need to second guess which charger is the correct one for your phone, since they're all the same... 🙄 🙄 🙄

are you on crack, we have had to service five motos since monday with faulty charging ports. That is the worste design ever created, if moto had half a brain they would change those things.

Motorola has a 6-month life span before stuff goes downhill. My work only uses Motorola due to some discounts we get. I've had 5 models and invariably battery goes, calls drop, and reception worsens as the phone gets older. I've never had any of these issues to the extent the Motorola has with my LG, Kyocera, or Nokia's I've owned. You may rethink your last comments very soon.

Forgive me for being naive, but is the phone just not capable of playing mp3's or using them as ringtones, or did Verizon just disable that feature? I would think the former would be the case since the e815 is capable of playing and using mp3s.
