Many things. Making sure it's compatible withthe network, making sure the miniSD card and the BT are crippled, figuring out whether to charge you for the phone charger, finding a good price between "an arm and a leg" and "eat beans for a month".
The points I made above were jokes, but I would say marketing; the 8000 came out in Feb., they want to squeeze out as much money as they can out of it, then release a newer, better one to get those who aren't with V cast to get a newer, better phone, and to maybe get people to upgrade their semi-new phones to the 8100 or the new motorola.

honestly...WHO CARES!!!, this phone looks ridiculous (blue cover, cmon verizon) and the only real upgrade over the 8000 is bluetooth which of course will be crippled...if you want a great phone to drool over, check out the Samsung A800 2 mega pixel phone...unbelievable!

just because this picture has blue on it doesnt mean it will be the color they choose. Or maybe they will do like the 7000 and 4400 and release two different colors. Mine is in a black case either way so it doesnt matter.

Verizon also had to launch EVDO which no doubt added to the delays. At least that is already in process at this point.

Hey guys first time on this forum and I must say im addicted to this phone and its not out yet. I work as a Verizon rep and nothing has been confirmed about the release date of this phone tho I am trying to get my District Manager give me some info. If I do get a release for the phone I will not give it out as my job could be put on the line but I will back jarederikson If I get further information. If you noticed the news artical was from may, 14th 2003. The phone wasnt even annoced at that time. They are takling about the sanyo 8100 from sprint. Sorry to burst your bubble. And why freaking speculate why not just wait till verizon annoses it. I doesnt make sense to make rumors what make no sense. One person says may another says june, july, august and even december. You guys aree full of S*%t. Just wait for it. Respond if you aggree.....

Spoke with Verizon about actual release date. They gave me the usual BS till I threatened to go Cin gular, then tole me late June-early July. If you can beleive that. They promise the world and give you nothing. Everybody else has BT out but them. Like the moto 710 but can't deal with their menu's and speed dials.
