815 BT to PC with Verizon?

Verizon sales guy told me that bluetooth sync is blocked by Verizon so I would not be able to connect to my PC to sync my phonebook etc... Wife & daughter miserable as I stormed out of the store muttering and refused to buy phones without more research.

So can I BT sync with my PC for my phone book, MP3's etc with a Verizon E815? And How?

Help restore order in my home - please!

I'm not a happy camper either. My e815 came in mail today as replacement for v710. I cannot sync via bluetooth...However on many forums, I've seen that you can w/o hacking. You have to hack to use it as a modem

I was able to synch using the Data Cable though.
this is not a good choice since the cables make lousy connections and are not reliable

Verizon even has a PDF file on their web site stating that the E815 can sync via Bluetooth for phonebooks & calendars to PC's with 'associated PC Software' i.e. Motorola Mobile Phone Tools software.

Why is buying a phone such a nightmare! 😡

I have Mobile Phone Tools and I originally purchased and used it with the cable. When I got a laptop with bluetooth, I installed MPT on it,
and have done calendar sync, phonebook sync, and dial-up networking, all WITHOUT a cable (WITH bluetooth.) I have not done any seem editing.
(You do have to enable DUN, but that's just a few key presses.)

I did NOT install the firmware update that became available a month or so ago, so some bluetooth capabilities may have gone away? Or it may simply be that they don't support bluetooth syncing, regardless of whether its possible. On other questions I have gotten conflicting answers from different Verizon support people.

Yes. With the firmware update you can no longer do the ##DIALUP to enable dialup networking. Without dialup networking profile, you cannot sync your e815 with MPT. Unless I'm mistaken. If so, someone please correct me and show me how!!!

Ok, so I just proved myself wrong. The e815 connects with MPT 3.2+, I was using 3.11h. But you still cant enable the dialup networking...

According to some posts over at Howardforums, the new firmware enables DUN by default. The ##DIALUP command has also been taken out.

I show Dialup Networking in my e815 under "My Bluetooth Places" now that I've successfully connected to MPT. Before I was unable to connect with 3.11h and Dialup Networking was not an available Bluetooth Profile.
