Anyone have a problem with the E815 freezing during Text messaging? Every 25 messages my phone freezes and reboots. I've had the phone replaced 3 times and still the same issue. VZW says I'm the only one with this issue. Is there a fix ? Is there a better phone ?

Yes, my phone will "freeze" and preform a soft reboot. Say "no service" for like 30 secs and then start working.

I'm not sure if it's every 25 txt messages, but it does happen when texting.

Hmm, I thought I was the only one. Mine not only does it when txt'ing, but also randomly while scrolling through pics.

I have taken it in twice. They have flashed the firmware. I'm taking it in this week to get it replaced.

Jeff, you've had three phones do the same thing?

I had the problem, they said I needed a software update. Still the same issue, so they replaced the phone( with a referb), still had it. VZW said it must be the software, so I updated it again. Still had the issue, they replaced the phone again with a new E815, but still have the issue. I looked at different phones but this one seems to be superior to all the others I compared it to( if only is didn't freeze)

I have this problem all the time. I took it to the store to replace it and they said they have to see it happen, and I couldn't demonstrate it at the store.

Any suggestions?

The exact thing happens to me but only when scrolling through pictures. Its annoyed me to the point in which I'm thinking of switching to the Samsung a920
Would you think it would be a good trade or should I try out another e815?

I raised holy @#@ with them and they agreed to replace it next time I come in. Hopefully, it wont happen with a new one. Not holding my breath though.

I had that problem with my v710 after I had it for a while. It would always say "Cannot charge" or something.

If you want a full connector to plug into your phone, you can purchase the Motorola USB cable (must be Motorola brand) off ebay for like $12 or something. Your 3 prong charger will plug into the cable and the cable will plug fully into the data port of the phone.

Just a suggestion. Also, I know the older Motorola phones had a charger that used the entire port. Maybe you can find one of those on ebay? ...

Do you text a lot? That is the only why I ever get my phone to freeze/reboot. After sending/receiving anywhere between 10-25 (not all at once; total)

My E815 freezes for no reason at all. It could just be laying on a table, or in my bag and next think you know nothing works. I have to turn it on and off a few times to correct the problem. Once I had to take out the battery and put it back in to clear up the problem. Can anyone tell me if the software upgrade helps? Also what do I have to key in to get the upgrade (or does Vz have to do this for me)?

software upgrade did not help I had the e815 for almost a year and i got very fed up with it it always freezes. It freezes if you make a call and there isn't enough service, it freezes if you don't hold the power button long enough, sometimes it freezes because it is cloudy outside. I don't know whether to blame this on motorola or verizon however I recently upgraded to the vx8300 and along with being a much stronger and better phone over all it doesn't freeze!

I have had this problem since I got the e815 about a year ago. Just a week and a half ago, I went to Verizon and they informed that it has become a common-known problem and they are currently developing new software to remedy the issue but it is not yet available.

I've had some experiences with the phone freezing. However if I'm not using the Moto skin it doesn't seem to freeze. I hope this helps.

I went through 7 E815s. I just bought a Samsung a930 and it is a better phone with no freezing. I may also buy an LG VX8300 to back up my 930.

The E815 is not a text message friendly phone. I average about 2600 text messages a month.

After three trips to the store, I finally got Verizon to replace mine. After one day, it is doing the exact same thing. 😢

Guess I will look for another phone. Shame, I really like the 815, but this issue is annoying. I can't believe more people have not experienced it.

When I first got my E-815 it would lock up when I was entering numbers in the phone book. They gave me a new one and it did the same thing. They were going to give me another one, but when I told them I never turn it off, they told me to turn it off while charging. I haven't had any problems since, but I don't do any texting.

Verizon said i was the only one with charging issues too, they don't want to admit that this phone a piece of crap. I guess thats why they finally discontinued the phone. I'm on my 3rd phone in 7 weeks and trying to get them to switch it for the LG 8300. The only good thing about this phone is the signal strenth, besides that, it sucks big time...
