quick questions about using mp3 as ringtones...
gicOct 21, 2005, 10:21 PM
I read instructions here about chopping a song, putting it in a CF card, sending it to a non-working address, and then applying it as ringtone from the outbox. Some have also said that it only works when a file is less than 300Kb. My question is how to make a file this small? I've tried converting some songs from CDs to mp3 using the lowest possible bit rates, then chopping only part of a song (just around 20 seconds). Yet, each file is still around 450Kb or more. I just can't find a way to make the files smaller (making it mono won't do).
So, my questions are:
- Would it work if a file is bigger than 300Kb?
- If it has to be smaller than 300Kb, then how would one get around 20 or 25 seconds of a song and the file is smaller than 3...

I'm sure you'll figure it out. I ripped bits at 96KPS and used 30second ringers and din't have a problem. Also just go to this address http://funformobile.com/pages/ringtone/upload Ringtone.php and you can email your self these small files and you don't have to use a card. Just cut and past if link dosen't work
