I have read that these phones are basically the same except for the streaming video and evdo (both of which I wont use). Which should I get? HELP!

Only YOU can decide and depends on how much money you want to spend.
🙄
If you use is it mainly for a phone, and don't need or use EVDO or other limited features, then they both are good with a little better reception on the 815, but not a big difference.

the 815. They are in the same shell basically, but the insides are not the same! The 815 is vastly improved all around and has many new features that I like. I dont even have EV-DO coverage where i'm at yet... =(

Not me. I have owned a V710 and now the E815. The E815 is a solid phone. Nice thing about the E815 compared to the V710 is when the phone is closed, you can see the time on the E815 Vs the V710. When the V710 is closed you cannot see the time you have to hit a button and make the screen light up in order to see the time. Another nice thing about the E815 is that you can use the speaker phone when the phone is closed.

Good choice. Also one more thing, when you have the phone on speaker phone, while it is closed you can answer the phone by hitting the button under the volume button and you can end the call the same way.

Now that part I am not sure of. I don't use the Blue Tooth. Hopefully someone else can answer that question for you.

you can once you do a little seem-edit, which isn't hard at all, and then OBEX works great over bluetooth, I used it to get stuff off my transflash card cuz it's easier than taking out the transflash card and sticking it into my sd card reader

As we know Verizon has limited Bluetooth's functionality. However, take a jump over to HOFO and spend an afternoon reading all the various mods that can be accomplished with e815. Amazing.. The mods, IMHO are NOT for the faint of heart, and definitely not something you do in your last spare 15 minutes before going off to work. They require time, patience and reading. And of course, the consequences are that if not done correctly, you can hose yer phone. But having said that, once it's done correctly, Bluetooth can easily be unlocked enabling one to transfer stuff back and forth from PC to phone and phone to PC to your heart's content.... Files, .mp3's, videos...

Another important thing that I see no one has mention yet.... The user interface on the e815 has been improved also. It's faster, so navigating thru menus is a dream.

How much better is the e815s battery? I read the specs on Phonescoop and Verizon's websites but I take it all with a grain of salt.

My 710 last roughly 24-36 hours (closer to 24). What should I expect of the e815?

I get anywhere between 24 and 72 depending on my use of the phone. If I am barely using it, I get close to 72, but if it is a day of heavy use (Bluetooth, EVDO, etc..) I only get a little over 24.
