Verizon has dropped the E815 from its website

What could that signify, that Verizon is already out of this phone, or that there's a problem with them?

You need to look again. I called to get this phone today and they said they put a hold on them. There is supposed to be some sort of defect out in the field. Motorola is looking into it. She wouldn't tell me what the problem was though. The just added the I730 though.

Yes, they pulled it from the website, but put it right back. What they're not telling you is that this phone is defective.I'm from NJ, I got this phone last week and I have already gone through two units. I tell you what's wrong with it!! My time and date function were always getting distorted on the 1st unit, on this 2nd unit the V-CAST as well as other features were nowhere to be found. when I called the Verizon as well as Motorola customer service, they were very unhelpful, no idea of what was going on. My friend works at a local Verizon store and he told me people were complaining and returning this unit by the masses. According to an E-mail he received from Verizon, Motorola forgot to install most of this phone unique features to 1/3 o...

I checked this morning, and it was there. Now it is indeed gone.
I'm guessing a lot of people were returning the phones because of the problems associated with them. And the number of them being returned was so high that they decided to pull them from the website. I'm just guessing that's the problem...

Anyone else have an idea why? Doesn't really look good for Verizon if you ask me. The bugs should be taken care of before it hits the stores, regardless of how long it takes.

I think it could be due that half of them weren't even sent with the right software either. I think there are a lot of factors to this one.

According to Circuit City, over half of the models they received were not equipped with VCast.

Everything is now on hold and they don't expect to have them in my area (PA) for two more weeks.

I would be willing to bet that when they fix this "error" there is no more workaround for the bluetooth and that the backdoor to the DUN is mysteriously gone. They may have truly brainfarted and forgot the EVDO software, but I bet that is not the only thing that will be changed when it returns. Possibly no MP3 capabilities like the 8100. Just a thought.

That is what I was worried about! I want the MP3 player. I waited for the 8100 to come out, that one is crippled beyond belief so I decided to get the 815, and now I can't!

The E815 is still on the Verizon site in the Southeast. I received mine on Friday and so far no problems (although I did receive one without Vcast software but I knew I was taking a chance getting it so early). Caller ID works, speakerphone volume is fine.

I am in the North East (New York City) and the phone is still listed on the web.

Got my phone on Thursday and it workd like a charm. I am disappointed by the lack of bluetooth connectivity other than a headset.
Other than that all other functions work well.

Would be a shame if there were a recall on these phones since Motorola looked like they finally got it right.

There is NO RECALL. Just got off the phone with VZW and I was concerned reading all this info. (I got my E815 last Tuesday, and don't have many days left for my 15). They said there was a technical problem with VCAST and they put a temporary hold on orders because they didn't want to release large quantities of the phones until it was fixed, which it should be by tomorrow. I don't even have VCAST in my area, so it dosn't really effect me, but wanted to make sure there weren't any other problems, and dosn't seem to be.

Why would you be dissapointed by the lack of blue tooth connectivity other than the headset, didn't you read the posts on the V710 and how people loved to use the word "cripple"? Didn't you figure that after that debacle, irregardless of any claims, the blue tooth would have the same limits on the E815? I wouldn't sweat it though, having a wireless headset is enough of a joy to make most blue tooth enabled phones worthwhile.

Regarding the "pulling of the E815 from Verizons" website, in the Philadelphia area it is still shown. I think the more likely scenario is that the demand exceeds the supply combined with some sort of software issue that they would rather nip in the bud while its' early. They didn't re-invent the wheel with this p...

My battery is fine i conditioned it and it works it don't even creak when i open the case imagine that! All i am saying is that my phone started off with no problems and that it started to get the problems on here people were talking about like echo and speaker phone and so forth. My reception has gone down and i started to lose calls. I was concerned when i started reading about the phone being taken off of Verizons website because when a phone is out of stock on Verizons website they just put OUT OF STOCK next to the image on the phone. So when i called they said there were multiple returns and defects and software issues with the phone so they were doing a recall. But like every Verizon rep i guess they all have their own say in thin...

Hey man, we all feel for you if you are having problems with your phone, you are going through the fear that we all have when purchasing something expensive. However, you made yourself a target by being such a staunch supporter than switching gears all because things aren't working out for you. At one point it was the best thing since sliced bread and then it was the biggest piece of crap ever. Just like you have told others, return it and try a new one, it seems to have the features you like and you obviously are a big Motorola supporter thus the "motoman" I assume. I think it is also pretty clear why the E815 is temporarily not being advertised in some areas and it isn't for selling faulty phones like yours.

Hey i still support the E815 if people want to go return their phone or exchange them i cant stop them. Some people put on here that they called Motorola and Verizon and da da da and they just want input on what they should do next and i just say if the problems are that bad and that severe you should have your phone checked out. Just because I'm having a couple problems with my phone don't mean nothing its a risk i took when i was first in line to buy this phone and I'm going to deal with it. No phone is perfect. I'm not out here to bash anyone I'm out here to try and help people. But i think it gets pretty bad when people say "I've gone through 4 E815s already and I've only had the phone for 3 days. Those are the people that don't ev...

Gotta to agree with you on the "give the phone a chance"... I have my original V710.... it use to crash like crazy... I was even considering returning it at one point... I re-flashed the phone with the Sd02 flash when it came out and have rarely had the problem since.

I've been considering getting the E815 but only if I can re-enable what VZW took anyway from it... like they did on the V710... I've been looking at the E815 for enabling OBEX... the V710 never even had it.

I am in Chicago and it has been removed from the website here. It was added to the website here on July 5th. I got my phone that day and I have had no problems. So far it's been the best phone I've ever had. I haven't tried to play any MP3's yet so I'm hoping that I can.
I also tried the free month of V-Cast and it works fine. I 'm not going to keep the V-Cast service past the trial but my friends and I have been quite impressed with the video quality. I do know that a couple of the Verizon stores here in the city were out of the phone that day as they only received a limited stock. I feel confident that if I have any problems I can look here to get some kind of info before I take it in or return it. For those who have been waitin...

I totally agree... from NYC...
I picked up my E815 last week Tuesday on it's release date and haven't had any problems... I simply love this phone and it's features have been working GREAT. In any electronics there is always going to be a few defected products. Nothing is perfect... that's why as a consumer there's always an option to return a product if not working properly. I'm sure Verizon will get this situation handled quickly... bottom line it effects sales!

I purchased the motorola e815 today and i couldn't wait to use the vcast. To my surprise, the vcast was no were to be found. I called 611 and the woman told me that many of the e815's weren't equipted with vcast and that they were removing all the e815's from the shelf and so that each one could have updated software. Stop crying about how the e815 is off the website, it'll come back. I seriously think that you can last until wednesday when it comes back.
