Clock off by an hour

motorola1

Jul 10, 2005, 6:04 PM
OK, so I get my new E815 a few days ago, and noticed that the clock is off by one hour (behind actual time)

It apparently is an EV-DO issue, because phone is fine an non EV-DO area. (spent weekend in non EV-DO area)

Called VZW tech support three times and got three different answers.

One told me I was the only one who has called and phone must be defective, replace it.

One told me that it was impossible to have the time wrong, since it gets the time from the network, I must be reading something else on the display (she suggested I was somehow looking at call timers)

Third told me to take my phone into the nearest VZW store with a tech so they could "adjust my phone"

These were all calls made in a row, one after the other....

i've never seen that problem but the first thing i would recommend would be to OTA the phone. dial *22890 then send from the phone. takes about a minute. after it's finished reset the phone(if it didn't do it already) 1 question though, do you live near the change in time zones? just wondering if you could be picking up an evdo tower which is in a different time zone. if this doesn't fix it, call to your local vzw store and see if other evdo phones in the area are having the same problem.

I bought this phone last week and I experienced the same problem. I tried going into INITIAL SETUP MENU cliked on TIME and DATE OPTION AUTOUPDATE changed it to OFF. This took care of this problem, the only thing is that every-time I shut off the phone, the DATE itself will get re-stored to five days earlier. After calling Verizon they advised me to get a new unit. Which I did, but now I'm missing V-cast. Anyway, I spoke to Motorola a few days after I returned the phone with the Clock problem, they told me that indeed I was supposed to turn the AUTOUPDATE OFF and then do the MASTER RESET shut off the phone bring it back on and then go back into the AUTOUPDATE option and set it back to ON. Try this maybe this will work for you.

Is there any way to instruct the phone to ignore Daylight Savings Time?

there's no way to instruct a phone to ignore daylight savings time. it should just be pulling the time right off the network. *22890 is just the same as doing *228 option 1 to program your phone. option 2 is to upgrade your preferred roaming list. this lets the phone know which towers to look for so you get the best reception and reduces the chance of getting roaming charges.

did you try it, and if so did it change anything?

just currious have you taking the battery out? this was pretty common the t720/730 when ever they would be programed by *228 the would be an hour behind we would just take the battery out while the phone was on doing a hard reset and when it powers on the time becomes correct

Someone mentioned on here a couple days ago their clock was off by an hour. So I'm thinking its a software issue.

I had the same problem.I reset the time and it seems to be working fine now.I would bet that Verizon sent a mistaken time update to the phone and that is how the time changed.
