E815 - Earpiece speaker

OK, had the phone for two days now and I am not liking the sound quality of the other parties I am talking to. My earpiece just doesn't sound as good as I would expect. I updated from an LG VX6000 and feel the sound quality from that earpiece was superb compared to the E815. Is this just my phone or has anybody else noticed this???

You have better reception on this phone so the other people you talk to aren't going to sound as good the people that are going to sound the best will be the ones on a land-line phone. Me and my boss had V710s and the quality was the same when we talked but when i got the E815 my phone blew his V710 away now there is a lot more static on his end of the phone.

That's strange, mine sounds like a land-line phone. The best clarity of any cell phone I've owned. I actually have to turn my volume down to 4. Also, remember the earpiece has a soft spot. Once you find it, you should be fine.

I'm struggling to hear calls clearly. They are muffled and somewhat broken. Max 2 bars of reception. Skorpyo where do you live? I wonder if it's the area. I don't think so, though. I have an old Kyocera business phone w/VZ that has much better call quality and battery. I want your e815! It sounds like the phone I thought I was buying. 😢

DeniRose,

I'm sorry that you are having problems with the sound on earpiece. It really sounds like your phone is defective. I live in the SF Bay area, CA. I have had the LG VX-8000, CDM 8940 among others and this is the winner for audio. Don't worry, hopefully you will take it in to Verizon and have them troubleshoot or exchange the phone. I would be disappointed if I were you. Just take it in. Good luck!!! 😉

I'm not complaining about the E815's incoming voice quality but in comparison to the V60s, Motorola took a slight step back IMO.

I once had a V60 from moto and expected that this phone would have better quality audio from the earpiece, or at least comparible. I am dissapointed so far and am thinking of exchanging the phone for another E815.

My earpiece speaker sounds "broken". I have full reception??

I just want to know if it is mine though. I don't want to get another 815 if it is a larger MOTO problem...

I disagree. I currently have a V60s, and the E815 is much better. Maybe my reception is better?????

I have found myself asking people that are calling me from a land line to repeat themselves because their audio is coming across as somewhat muffled or garbled. I'm using the phone in the spot I have used my V60s the most - in a very good reception area. I need a few more days with the E815 in other locations to be absolutely sure. I'm in a suburb of NYC.

Sounds like your unit is defective. I would exhange the phone if you really like it otherwise. I'm sorry to hear about your problems. 😉

My phone earpiece almost sounds like the speaker is cracked. When "higher pitched" sounds are spoken, they crack and get so distorted I can't hear right. I haven't had a problem like this with a V60, LG VX6000, or a Samsung A670. My reception is usually all bars, the phones I just listed have all been used in the same service area as I am in now.

One other problem I can't figure out. I have a wired headset with a 2.5mm plug for the phone and can hardly hear the other party talking. My key presses and dialing are very loud and distinct but the other parties voice is so low, I can't use the headset to make calls. Am I missing a setting? I looked everywhere in the phones menu. They can hear me just fine.

I don't want to exchange t...

I went to Circuit City to exchange my phone. Same problem with volume above 4. High pitches sound tinny. The E815 on display did the same thing. My original phone was from Verizon distribution center. Guess I will have to live with it! I haven't tried the headset yet, but I ordered HS120 stereo headset on Ebay for only $10 with shipping-Brand New. Hopefully this will help. Eventually I will get a bluetooth headset as well. Maybe there will be some kind of fix for earpiece problem. I would hate to exchange again! 😢
