Should I switch from the v710 to the E815?

Original

It seems like the v710 was a nice first attempt at full-featured Motorola phone on the Verizon network. A formidable opponent to the v600 you could say.

But 11 months later (almost to the day) Verizon now has an update to the v710 (or at least that's how they're advertising the E815).

So here I am, about to go over to Verizon, to probably get another replacement v710, since this one is having the same issue 2 other ones had, it sometime decideds not to be able to "charge" out of the blue, and I'm stuck.

Do I demand an E815 or get another v710?

Advice, please!

If you do decide to "demand" getting the 815 as a replacement, let me know how that goes. My last 4 V710's randomly rese...

Don't even hesitate just get it. This is a mass improvement from the V710. I wasn't going to get this phone until July 22 or so but when Circuit City let me test it out for a hour on Saturday i knew i had to come back on Sunday to buy it. So far i have had not 1 problem with this phone more than i can say with the V710 and plus you always have a 15 day worry free guarantee with Verizon to try out the phone you have NOTHING to lose and a GREAT phone to gain!

My problem is that I don't feel that I should have to pay full retail for this phone when I paid full retail ($419) for the v710 and got nothing but garbage. I have had 4 that just randomly reset themselves when I am text messaging, ...

Hi - I just picked up an E815 today. Looks/seems very nice so far. Love the screen, buttons, speed, etc. One question though...doesn't look like I can use my mobilePhoneTools s/w with this phone? Maybe they just don't have the driver for it yet? I was hoping to be able to connect it to my laptop for use as a modem, but it's starting to look like maybe I can't. Any words of wisdom here? Thanks...please repond directly if you could!

I just got the E815 and was "upgrading" from a V710 which worked just fine. I don't see alot of difference in the phones, battery should be better which is a clear advantage, the feel and features for the most part are comparable. I'd say that if it is going to cost you money and you have had a bad track record with your V710, either ride is out with your V710 if you think it is finally working or try a different brand.

question for SForsyth01. when you've been swapping out your phone have you been having you phone book transfered each time? if phones have software problems they can sometimes be passed along with phonebook transfers. just a thought.

Dude, I had the same problem with mine. It's not the phone, it's the charger.

hate to break it to you man but its pretty hard to demand a different model of phone when it comes to warranty issue, im an agent for verizon and i have gotten a different model of phone before through a warranty issue but that was on the v265 fiasco, and i got a v710 instead, so far my gf has liked the v710 she got sent to her, but my co-worker tried doing the same thing with a a670 samsung and they told him the only thing he could do is get a new samsung a670 sent to him. let me know how it goes, but i think the only reason i got a different model was because im an agent and the guy on customer service i talked to was a really cool guy.
