Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
MP3 Ringtones
Also, what's the deal with the phone not coming with a belt clip?
The good news is that now the you can hear the actual ringtone while having the bluetooh headset connected to the phone.
You can also change the picture on the outside of the phone.
Want to know why there is no clip with the e815? Because now you have to BUY one. ALL NEW VERIZON PHONES FROM 2005 ON ARE PACKAGED WITH NO ACCESSORIES AT ALL! Just a battery. Motorala phones actually include a car charger, case, and headset, EXCEPT for Verizon models, where those are taken out of the packaging.
i thought it was retarded that the phone will play the mp3 but wont let you set it as a ringtone, verizon always trying to make an extra buck somehow.

I have had no problems using MP3s as ringtones. I email them to my phone using [mynumber@vzwpix.com]. I just change the file type to midi (.mid) and send as an attachment. You can use Windows Media Player to open an MP3 and "Save As" a midi file. No need to "Get it Now".
I think I'm missing a step: I did the above, got the file and stored it. Now, how do I find the .mid file to use as a ringtone? It doesn't show up on the list of available ringtones.

I just open the mp3 in Windows Media Player and then do a Save As and put a .mid extention on the file name. I email that file to my phone. When you open the message, the sound should play (could take a few seconds). Then when the message is open press the menu key. One of the selections is "Save Items". Just select file and follow the prompts at the bottom of the screen.
i tried doing that and when i try saving the music
it says "File Type Not Recognized" when i checked wat kind of file it was it said MIDI Sequence does that make a difference?
