You can not set/use MP3 ringtones on the 815.

Also, what's the deal with the phone not coming with a belt clip?

It's true.

The good news is that now the you can hear the actual ringtone while having the bluetooh headset connected to the phone.

You can also change the picture on the outside of the phone.

yea, i thought i remember hearing that there would be a belt clip, but there wasnt one provided. you can use mp3s. you can download them and pay or buy a transflash memory card and transfer mp3s from your computer onto the card and use them in your phone (at least the manual says you can).

But you can not save the MP3s to the phone so you are unable to use them as ringtones.

I have had no problems using MP3s as ringtones. I email them to my phone using [mynumber@vzwpix.com]. I just change the file type to midi (.mid) and send as an attachment. You can use Windows Media Player to open an MP3 and "Save As" a midi file. No need to "Get it Now".

There was a software release for the v710 that allowed the phone to ring while bluetooth headset was enabled...PS...the same software "upgrade" DISABLED the ability to use MP3s as ringtones. Nice move! Thanks! Just have to use the ol' email midi file workaround to get good ringers.

Want to know why there is no clip with the e815? Because now you have to BUY one. ALL NEW VERIZON PHONES FROM 2005 ON ARE PACKAGED WITH NO ACCESSORIES AT ALL! Just a battery. Motorala phones actually include a car charger, case, and headset, EXCEPT for Verizon models, where those are taken out of the packaging.

thats crap. im getting so sick of verizon trying to make money on absolutely everything. Not coming with a headset pissed me off, but i got over it and bought one for $10, not coming with games pissed me of, but i used the free trials, disabling the bluetooth pissed me off and i cant really get around it but i wouldnt really use it, but honestly not coming with a belt clip really is too much. i dont know what i would do without my clip, and i hate the leather cases... this is getting absolutely stupid, they have more money than they need anyways. Ugh. Anyone feel me?

I think I'm missing a step: I did the above, got the file and stored it. Now, how do I find the .mid file to use as a ringtone? It doesn't show up on the list of available ringtones.

I just open the mp3 in Windows Media Player and then do a Save As and put a .mid extention on the file name. I email that file to my phone. When you open the message, the sound should play (could take a few seconds). Then when the message is open press the menu key. One of the selections is "Save Items". Just select file and follow the prompts at the bottom of the screen.

Ok I don't know if anyone knew this, but sorry for being new to Verizon (just signed up yesterday) but I figured it all out. 1.) Yes there is definitely a limit....I have not found the true limit yet but if you keep it to 200kb or less then it should work. When you send the trimmed mp3 to yournumber@vzwpix.com, make sure that upon receiving your SMS message, open it up and CLICK THE RIGHT ARROW on the keypad. This takes you to the song. If you use Netscape that is....for hotmail....it automatically pops up.
