I want to be able to program my friends voice and when they call me it will say "call from X".

X = The actual voice of the person that you program.

My 5500 (aka VM4500) does that so I would expect the 5600 to as well.

I don't think the 5500 have Voice Memo Ringtones like the 4700.

correction..i have the hardware 101

If u go to voice services/voice dial/program

then set up name, for example Tony

once that is saved go to tony in your phonebook and click on edit and scroll down to ringer and click on ringer with voice and instead of the lady saying incomming call she says the persons name that u just created..try that out, it should all work for you guys, it works for me. This is on the vm4500/5500 not sure if this is the same with the 5600.

It may and it may not since the 5600 has speaker independent voice dialing which means that you don't have to record the name of the person in order to use voice dial. It may because it may have a computer simulated voice say the name since it is recorded in the phone to help in the independent voice dialing.

It's a current article came out 2/10/05 where Sprint talks about its plans for 2005. It mentions 2.7-2.9 billion dollars being invested for their EV-DO network which they plan to fully deploy by end of 2005. They also said something about that there should be 4 phones released by the time that the network is deployed. I hope this is one of them and in fact I heard that this phone is fairly easy to upgrade to support EV-DO but unless Sprint releases it as EV-DO capabale then good luck getting it upgraded cause chances will probably be slim to none. By the way I can confirm that the 5600...

Unfortunately, the 5600 has the Qualcomm MSM6100 Chipset, which is not EV-DO capable. This is according to the most trusted name in Sprint news, SprintPCSInfo.com.

There is really no doubt about this 😢 . If they wanted to make the phone EV-DO capable they would then delay the launch until they launch EV-DO so they could leverage that to sell the hell out of EV-DO data plans and MM-5600's.
