So, what are you using for your ringtone?

I was using the keyboard intro from Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like a Hole". But just recently switched to the song "Twisted Nerve" by Bernard Herrmann. For those not familiar, it's the whistling song from the Kill Bill movie. Sounds coooool 🙂

I also made a great Barracuda ringtone (Heart song).

I love mp3 ringtones 🙂

Believe it or not, that intro to "Head Like a Hole" is actually the bass. Trent is using a combination of heavy overdrive and a compressor to achieve that sound.

I was intrigued by the main riff of the song & taught myself to play it. With just those 2 effects and a bit of patience you can pretty much replicate the sound 🙂

I always assumed it was some kind of synthesized keyboard.

HLAH has always been my alltime favorite song ;)

just downloaded that song cos i hadn't heard it and you say its great.I'm a big fan of the Bass guitar.

Thats a lame song and the bassline sucks. you guys should listen to some Flea. He's awsume. and MUSE rock. try playin hysteria by them if you like bass. thats a kool song. not that thier other songs arnt. 'muse - new born' is kool too amongst others by them. try 'The EX' by 'Billy talent' aswell. thats fun to play.

you might not have heard of these bands if your american which most people seem to be on this forum. (no offence meant by this post BTW)

oh yeah n go Funeral For A Friend!!!

I like Flea's work, but you're comparing two completely different musicians in two completely different genres of music. You wouldn't likely compare the guitar skills of Stevie Ray Vaughn to those of James Hetfield. In both examples, each musician is talented & his playing style fits the genre in which he writes/performs.

Somehow I can't quite imagine hearing Flea's popping/slapping in any kind of industrial band. 😕

As a bassist, I've learned to appreciate many differing styles of many artists. You can learn something from just about anybody if you listen for it with an open mind. Sometimes you even learn new skills/techniques/ideas from genres which you normally would never listen to. That's often when you get some of the mo...

yeah i listen to almost all kinds of music. but i must say i tend to play what i like to listen to. there isnt much i don't like to listen to and the most of the time when i play my bass its with my band or just me practising and writing new things for my band. we'v a chosen style of music so that genre of music is what i tend to play.

my comment b4 wasnt really to do with how the guys playing the bass or even how good he is. i'm sure he's a great bassist. i was just saying i dont particulaly like that song or think it would be good for a ringtone. the bass is kinda quiet.

ah well. who am i to say what you want on your phone 😁 . i just want the phone. lol.

Flea playing the Charlie Brown theme = Kick ass!!

I like Les Claypool's style and Steve Digiorgio from Death (Nuclear Blast) even though Lead singer/lead guitarist Chuck Schuldiner died a couple years ago from a brain tumor. Irony is a bitch.

Sorry to hear that man....but at least you're still here, right? I hate stupid doctors. My mom told me when she was pregnant with me, she went to her doctor, who in turn told her that I would have numerous birth defects and most likely be mentally retarded. She was told the best option would be to have me aborted. Well, she didn't agree with that, and now I'm the most healthy person in my family, and I'm definately not "retarded" per say, unless it's self-induced due to "experimenting". When she told me this stuff, I was about 10 or 11, and I wanted to go kill that Dr., but she told me he was fired for malpractice a couple months later and fled the country to continue his practice, and avoid lawsuits. CRAZY F*CKIN WORLD WE'RE LIVING IN!! 😁

Boom by P.O.D. is for my friends
Brick House by the Commodores is for my home phone
Invisible by Clay Aiken is my wife's cell

Still trying to figure out something good to use for work contacts... I'm thinking the 1812 Overture but don't have that on CD at home. ;)
