Samsung rep came to our location with the 890

really nice design
its more compact than the lg vx8000 with a less bricklike shape
very light

the menu/camera operation was very smooth like the new samsung a790 global phone and other lg's out there(present samsungs have long load times for the camera)

basically i'm looking forward to this phone's release...alot nicer than the 8000 in my opinion

not that i saw

this phone plays to samsungs strengths

great coloro screen and camera quality
good menu use(even better with what i was saying before)
solid build quality
lightweight

no speaker
no bluetooth

but it does have evdo...and from working for verizon for quite a bit...samsung has come up in quality ...so a phone like this should definitely be an awesome phone...

8000. I've seen all three in person. I don't like audiovox (except the Toshiba models). The 8940's camera feels cheap, and the menu system feels just like the 8900. The 890 doesn't have anything on it except for the video capability. I can't stand the Samsung UI, but if you love the samsung UI, then you'll love the 890. It's just user preference.

My pick is the 8000. I haven't used it for more than a couple minutes, but ever since the 6000 LG has been #1 for ease of use and functionality.

The 890 is a solid phone (from personal experience), just didn't feel like it had any features. The camera was just okay, the TFT outside display was cool, but all three of these phones have that. The inside screen is just okay, but nothin...

YZFdave,

Sorry to ask what may be annoying questions, but I plan on ordering my phone through my VZW corporate representative so any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

1.) How loud was the ringer volume when comparing the LG-8000 and the SAMSUNG 890?

2.) Which phone has the stronger vibrating motor, LG-8000 or SAMSUNG 890?

3.) Which phone had better reception/call clarity? LG 8000 or SAMSUNG 890?

4.) Which phone had the faster software (i.e., faster powering up/menu activation), LG or SAMSUNG?

5.) Which phone had interesting, new ringtones (i.e., diff. from the ringtones on current LG or SAMSUNG phones)?

6.) Which phone felt more solid when opening/closing the phone? Did either phone close with a r...

Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions! I am now leaning towards the LG, although I have had both LG and SAMSUNG phones. My current phone, the SAMSUNG a530, has been a disappointment. The ringer volume is too low even on the highest setting, the vibrate motor is too weak to feel when in your pocket, the menus are slow to engage, etc.

The funny thing is that in Korea, SAMSUNG is the market leader hands-down. Everyone in Korea knows that SAMSUNG makes the best phones and that LG is ranked 2nd. SAMSUNG has not sent over their better phones to the U.S., where as LG has sent over their top-line phones....

Presently I have a 7000, and I have had samsungs. THe sound on the 7000 is awesome and very loud and from the pictures of the 8000 it has 2 speakers in front, like it can do stereo. My 7000 only has one speaker in the front. So I am asuming that the 8000 will sound even nicer then the 7000. The LG UI is way better then samsungs that I have had. LG UI for me is completely intuitive. One that that was annoying about the samsung is that for the speed dials if you have one person with 2 numbers and you want both numbers to be on speed dial it won't work. You have to set up a new name for it. To me that is annoying. THe LG is so easy to set up the speed dials and then change your mind and reset them, fluid and easy. Also I like the LG ...
