Was saving for a V600, the local Cingular store still sells them ($350) but I'm wondering whether I should wait for this V620. I mean, how much more expensive do you guys think Motorola is going to sell them for?

I sure hope they release it soon though because I need a phone before the end of September. ☹️

you're lookin at a POSSIBLE 4th quarter release......sorry to say but that's Oct./Nov./Dec. territory. Possible only means that that's the earliest they could release it. I hear that Cingular's lookin to replace the v600 with the v551, but considering it's ? FCC approval, I'd almost bet on the A630.

Just my 2 cents

alrite guys this is what happened on august 2nd cingular did a recall on the v600 it is discontinued by cingular only so no more v600...whatever the stores have in stock thats it so only way to get v600 is through a tmobile or atnt dealer.....cingular will release the motorola v620 sometime in november
reason for recall is becuase the v600 on the east coast cannot pick up the 850 frequency and also cingular is switching to the 800 frequency.....as an additional note if u have lockline insurnace for a cingular phone ur screwed now because started august 1st they changed the insurance policy to mail in so u get a refurbished phone through the mail and the lockline insurance rep picks the phone that u get and since v600 is discontinued dunno i...

some of the info about the v600 is correct, but I work for Cingular and I just had to reply to correct a few things. Cingular is discontinuing the v600 due to the many softwear problems and they feel it is not necessary to carry both the v400 and v600 as they are almost the same phone (the v600 has bluetooth).Cingular has never gotten as many complaints or problems about any other phone like they have got about the v600. The v600 can pick up the 850 frequency just like any other phone the carry so I don't know where that one came from. As far as lockline, the insurance claims are still being processed in the stores and like always you get a brand new phone, but the like for like warranty exchanges are done by mail now. Hope this helps

i work at an authorized dealer who does insurance claims with lockline if the customer makes a claim after august 1st they will have to get a refurbished phone by mail and not in the stores unless there are special circumstances where the rep allows the customer to pick up his phone in the store

i'm located in NY and we still process the lockline claims in the store. I did 2 today. I also found out more about why Cingular is not ordering any more v600's. Motorola informed Cingular that there was a potential problem with 850. Cingular thought it would be best to wait until the v551, which will be out by mid October. The v620 will is still in developement and won't be available til '05. AT&T wireless uses 850 and they will continue to carry the v600. I guess they are not as concerned as Cingular with the potential problems. Interesting..........

Of course AT&T will continue to deny there is a problem with this phone on their network, despite the thousands of postings on their website to the contrary. Why would they do something to take care of their customers? AT&T doesn't care - we'll be Cingular customers soon. Good Luck to those of us with V600's when Cingular takes over. Guess they will have to deal with us then.

man i guess its different then im stationed in LA and we can't do insurance claims anymore only for the customers who made a claim before august 1st other than that is all mail in.....was talking on the phone with lockline today and replacement for v600 will be v400 (cingular pulled the v600 even the refurbished ones issued by lockline through mail) also informed me that in september every cingular customer who uses a v600 will recieve a letter in the mail telling them what happened to the v600 and there will be some contact numbers and also information on the comparable model that will be given to them if something is to happen to the phone

Lockline insurance claims are handled by phone & mail like the XBM process ONLY in the southern cali & Las Vegas markets so far. This process will most likely grow throughout the US as the merger progresses. At this time lockline claims are still handled in the store everywhere else.

As for the problems with the v600, here's what i've heard. The problems are related to a "RF issue" on the 850 band which causes the phone to drop calls for an unknown reason even when signal strength is full. So since the V551 is about to be released they decided to not carry it anymore. The V551 will essentially replace the V600 on Cingular's linup. As for the V620 I havn't heard any news about it being carried. We'll see. I would pickup the V551 ...

It seems like you need a little "refresher course" on your GSM bands. GSM 850 is the SAME as GSM 800. Please check your facts before you post. Otherwise you show your ignorance.

I am a Cingular Premier Agent in Illinois. We actually got a memo from Cingular and Motorola on that phone. Cingular and Motorola are swapping out the phones though. You have to call them and they will ship you a loaner phone and then send you your new phone when they know what they are swapping it with. A customer of mine has done this already. They shipped him a V400 to use while he sends his V600 in. Check with your local Cingular rep to get the number to call. I don't know if they have different numbers for different markets. If they don't have it, call customer service.
