CINGULAR SUBSCRIBERS (STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!)

ATTENTION ALL CINGULAR SUBSCRIBERS. IF YOU ENJOY NOT GETTING ANY ROAMING CHARGES, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE. THIS PHONE IS A NICE LOOKING AND FEELING PHONE, BUT THATS WHERE IT ENDS. IF YOU HAVE A CINGULAR 64K SIM CARD (IT WILL NOT, AND I REPEAT WILL NOT WORK ON THIS PHONE) YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO MAKE IN AND OUT CALLS WITH IT. CINGULAR HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE BLOCKED THIS PHONE ON THERE NETWORK. DON'T BE FOOLED, IT DOESN'T MAKE ONE BIT OF DIFFERENCE IF IT IS "UNLOCKED" THE PHONE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEND OR RECEIVE TEXT MESSEGES, EMAIL, PICTURES OR BROWS THE INTERNET. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TROUBLE AND BUY A "LOCKED" PHONE. A PHONE THAT IS LOCKED INTO CINGULAR "WILL" BE ALLOWED TO USE THE CINGULAR INTERNET. TRUST ME ON THIS DON'T ...

Tell us what really happened to you. From my experience, as I DO have the v620 phone and AM using Cingular.....I am able to send text messages, browse the internet, retreive email etc without any problems. I DID find the settings online thru Cingular's website at this address.

My phone is unlocked and I also use a Motorola a768i that is unlocked without any difficulty on the Cingular network. Neither of these phones are "blocked". In addition, I was able to use both of these phones on AT&T's network with mMode enabled.

I would suggest you spend some time at www.howardforums.com and aquaint and educate yourself with what is possible with an...

Hmmm...I am just telling what was told to me. And, guess what? You were right! But you didn't have to be so harsh about it. I was finally able to get in contact with someone at Cingular with a half a brain cell. They asked me for number on the inside of the phone, I gave it to them and the downloaded the settings to my phone. I am on the nationwide plan and they say that I won't get any roaming charges no matter what the display says, but we will just have to see. Once again thank you for you advise and I withdraw my claim about this phone. I was just sort of upset when I first got it and was told that I would be getting roaming charges because it was an unlocked phone. So for all of you in the market for this phone. Here is my revie...

i believe my problem is that i cannot add any web sessions. the phone came with many others from europe and has hogged the space. it will not let me erase any. a master reset/clear did nothing for me. i tried editing one of the sessions to do cingular gprs but for some reason this has failed. kinda confused as what to do.

I had the same problem with mine. Go to web access, access web sessions, choose Vodaphone live! Web access then worked for me. Good luck.

Thats so strange. I go this phone just yesterday. I was able to add a new web session and enter the Cingular settings and it works fine, my only beef is that there is no auto-update for time like with a cingular branded phone, which bites when you travel alot between the east and west coast.

There is a seem edit that turns on the autoupdate of time/date.

See http://www.howardforums.com for information on where to find and how to use seem editors on your V620.

I have used it to fix the voicemail indicator, turn on auto date/time update, change the calendar to Sunday - Saturday format, and to display phone numbers with dashes. Basically all the things that were ticking me off about the phone 😉

I was just wondering if people are able to use this phone with the 64MB cingular card. I saw that some people say stay away but others said they were able to use it. GREGV did you have to do anything to the phone to work for you???
