i am looking to start a new service plan with cingular and would like to know if it is worth it to wait for the v620. also, any idea when the v620 will be available would be helpful. thank you very much

I think the V620 is an excellent phone and I would definitely get it if it were available from Cingular at a decent price with a contract and had optional insurance. However, I think it is too expensive to purchase imported from an overseas vendor. As far as a release date from Cingular, there is no telling when it will be available but I have a feeling it's going to be a long way off considering how many phones Cingular has to offer right now. Especially since there are a lot of Moto phones currently being offered.

The best thing the V620 has going for it is its appearance. I really like the color and design of this phone. The 262k screen is also a bonus. The V551, while looking kind of bland is a great phone with EDGE. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed reading reviews about battery life on the V551, which is the only thing keeping me from purchasing it. I would buy the V620, but i'm afraid it will be many months before Cingular carries that phone. I could buy it from an internet vendor, but I then I can't get insurance on it. My plan is to wait for the Sony Ericsson S710a. It should be out before or by the end of this month. If for some reason it gets pushed back or it is too expensive, I'm going to get the V551 despite its battery issu...

I was in a Cingular corporate store a few hours ago. The reps there didn't seem to have any idea of what this phone was, when I asked about the V620.
One of the reps claimed that he was aware of every phone due out in the next 6 months. However, the Motorola V620 is not one of them.
If true, this is a shame, as this is the phone that I am eyeing, and I'd like to get a decent deal from Cingular as a new customer.
Otherwise, Costco online or eBay appear to be the least expensive at just under $300.00.
Any other inside info on this phone is appreciated

I have a v551 and I don't have any battery issues. I have it on throughout the day and use it with a bluetooth headset and the charge lasts me for several days. I am not sure what other people see in terms of battery performance but I have no complaints whatsoever.
