v620

I think it's funny that everytime I step into a Cingular/ATT store and ask the people who work there about this phone, they say that they have no idea and never even heard of it before. I really wish there was a date for its release. I read that it might not even come out until next year. The guy that worked at the store even showed me the holiday promo summary, and the phone wasn't listed. I would buy it online, but I want to get a discount since I would be signing up for a plan. Anyway, I'm thinking about the v551, even though it has less talk time (only 3.75) which kind of sucks. Anyone hear anything further about the v620s release to Cingular?

I know how you feel. I have no idea what to do. I live in Connecticut and every Cingular store I've gone into or called has no idea about it. I've also called 1-866-Cingular and they didn't know either. I'm still gonna try and hold off to get the v620 but I'm loosing hope and no one seems to have any new information.

The V620 should be out by Valentine's Day of 2005. It is still in rigourous testing as they don't want a repeat of the V600's poor performance. If you notice, the FCC hasn't signed off on the phone yet, as there is no FCC number.

As for Cingular's new plans.....don't count on anything. The current literature in your local store will remain unril 12-26-04. It is not likely that they will come up with some promotional plan. Things are always subject to change.....

I don't think they want anything to get in the way of the V3's thunder. Based on all the advertising I'm seeing for the V3, I'm guessing they will probably hold the V620 until after Xmas.

But I'll wait. The V3 looks good, but the V620 is my next phone.

I'm not trying to discredit anyone who posts "theoretical" release dates for this phone, but the truth of the matter is that I don't think anyone truly knows when this phone will be available. I have seen a lot of Cingular reps post that the phone will be available in the middle of Nov., the end of Nov., the beginning of Dec., and now I'm being told Valentine's Day of 2005. I don't work in mobile phone sales, so I'm not familiar with how you guys go about getting your information. It seems like most of it is hearsay. I hope I'm wrong, because I would love to see this phone out soon. I hate to do it, but I'll be forced to buy the V551 if the V620 isn't out by the end of this month.

Screw it, I'm waiting even if it does come out around V-day. I've waited this long and my Nextel is on a month to month, I'm not going to settle for anything less than the v620.

Actually the SE z500 is coming out for cingular by the end of this week into next. In my opinion it is a nicer phone. Although it does not have bluetooth the z500 has edge which speeds things up and a cstn screen to save battery. It also has many other features. Go check it out

There seems to be a general agreement concensus by those that have reviewed this phone already that it is flawless. The reviews are all fives on this site. That is a very positive sign. I think the extra testing that is being done is to ensure there is not another v600 disaster. But a good point was made that I agree with and that is that Cingular does not want to take away from the latest phone's thunder. If they could even dangle a carrot in front of us with a potential release date, then at least it would give those of us waiting for this phone a date to plan for...
BTW - what is the real importance behind the FCC code?
