Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether or not the PPC-6600 will have an option to upgrade to the 5.0 format? 🙂

From the 'official' tech support from Audiovox as far as my Verizon 6600...:

''The Windows Mobile 2005 platform (otherwise known as MAGNETO) is a completely different platform. The PPC6600 will not support this, as the entire carrier specifications and customization was based on the Windows Mobile 2003 (OZONE) platform''.

I hope its not true! ...but maybe the other cellular brands will?

Any more news on this? I was at a Microsoft seminar last week and they were showing Windows Mobile 5.0. Pretty slick, and being able to upgrade would be awesome.

Im with VZW. They are the SLOWEST to get anything new IMO. I know for a fact (well I can only logically conclude) that the new Mobile OS will run on most new PPC's incluse the Audiovox 6600 models.

However for VZW, and other cellular carriers....the question is will they get there 'engeneers' on the job and get to intergrating the cell/mobile software. I HOPE SO!

Data Support Conversation
