"Consumer" Infrared (CIR) ?
As if this phone doesn't do enough as it is...
But does anyone know how powerful the infrared port is?
Can it function with the range of a typical TV remote so that it can take advantage of the TV/VCR/etc remote software that's available for PocketPC?
Or is it "standard IR" meaning it has a range of about 2 feet and while it COULD run the software to function as a TV remote, if you have to be 2 feet away, what's the point?

I am uncertain how strong the IR transmitter is in the unit.
Also, I don't know how well it work work as a remote control, seeing as the IR port is on the side of the unit, not the top.

I have Sony's Clie RMC on my NX70V and have loved it for range and simple quick use for years. I have Nevo on my wife's new HP iPaq and it is even more versatile and has great range across the living room. I love going to sports bars and waiting rooms and changing the channel to something I like.
I was disappointed to find out that Nevo has an exclusive with HP. I hope it is lucrative for them, because they are missing out on sales to non-HP users.
I found Novii remote at http://www.novii.tv/products/noviir/ and they have software for $25. I am trying the 9-day trial version, and had not fooled with it much. This thread caused me to go compare it to the others. I had not even noticed that the IR was on the side! Kinda awkward, but you ...
