Think of it like a baby monitor, with the bluetooth headset, you can place the handset in another room, and listen in through the wireless headset.

A one way speaker phone means you can activate it and listen to someone, but they wont be able to hear you, hence the term "one-way". Its pretty much only useful for checking your voice mail.

I apologize, you are correct, when monitor is on, it automatically mutes the mic. I don't really see any use-able benefits to this feature. Anybody know one?

Absolutely.
  • Listening to voice mail. It's great if you have a bunch of messages and need to take notes, etc. Just set the phone down and listen, with both hands free.
  • Waiting on hold. It's such a pain in the neck (literally) to just site there and listen to hold music for 20 minutes. If you can just set the phone down and do other things, that's pretty useful, IMO.

Of course, a full speakerphone would always be more useful, but at least you can use a Bluetooth headset.

And several companies make Bluetooth speakerphone accessories, (like Motorola and Jabra,) so if you really need that feature and don't like wearing headsets, you do have that option.

I use it for the voicemail feature, (Also great for conference calls that you just listen in on) But, it doesn't amplify the volume all that much, meaning I still have to be pretty close to it. My bluetooth headset is on its way right now, so I can bear with the low volume for a couple of days.
