cannot see display in daylight

I've tried playing with the contrast settings - but none make it any better. Any suggestions? Is there a way to make it monochromatic?

Thanks.

I just got the V265 last Friday and noticed the same problem on Saturday afternoon. I changed the contrast and selected no wallpaper to see if that helps. Now I'm waiting for a sunny day. Any help would be appreciated. If there is no solution, I'll probably switch to the LG 6100 before my 15 days are up. That is the only problem I have with the phone. Formerly having a T720, the reception is a marked improvement and I am not bothered by the small screen size. But I have to see the screen in the daytime.

I had the same issue with the LG 6100..have you had a color phone that you could see in the daylight? I think its a general problem. I have heard that non-glare glass helps, but the glass on the v265 is definitely of the glare variety.

FYI, I dumped the 6100 mainly due to severe reception issues.. see negative reviews in the 6100 user reviews section for more detail. Many others concur that the v265 has significantly better reception and sound quality.

If display is the only issue you have, I would think twice before switching it to the LG6100. M aybe it's a little clearer outdoors in daylight but reception wise, it can't compare to the v265.

Totally disagree!! Tried them back-to-back at a VZW Store. As good a controlled test as it gets. The 6100 smoked the 265 on call clarity and volume not to mention build quality. Was thinking about getting the 265. After the comparison I left the store without it. And yes, both the inner and outer screens on the 6100 are very visable in sunlight.

Sorry but testing in a VZW DOESN'T prove anything. Most times in VZW stores, signal strength is excellent and both phones will not drop calls. Again,if you've read my postings, I mentioned that i've tested both phones in my house and in places where signal strength is not optimal. Performance of both has been very consistent and that is- the LGVx6100 drop calls like crazy and the moto v265 doesn't. Maybe as you said, clarity is better but so what??? If I can't keep a conversation going because i keep getting disconnected, then who cares about clarity. After going thru 2 vx6100 and having the same experience, i still think it's a piece of junk. If a phone can't be used as a phone very well, to me it's junk. i could care less about the nice ...

From my own testing the 265 has better reception than the 6100. This was not done at the vzw store where the signal is strong but at my house and many other sites which is a better gage of the phones overall reception. I think if you read the user reviews and check the overall ratings in the user reviews you will find this to be the consensus. There may be one or two people who found better reception with the 6100 (some never left the store) but the majority favor the reception of the 265.

thank you! finally, someone that agrees with me and uses the phone in a real world scenario as opposed to testing phones at a VZW store where signal boosters/enhancers are probably present. 😁

I haven't tested the 6100 reception but I did take my 265 to a location that I often go to where my old 720 would lose the signal and my wife's phone (Samsung 670) and son's phone (LG 6000) would have a signal. The 265 maintained at least 2 bars while I walked around that area. To me that signified that the 265 reception is a big improvement over the 720. But I still need to see the display when I am outside on a sunny day since that is when I usually need to use the mobile web. So far the weather hasn't cooperated with me to see if the contrast adjustment and elimination of the wallpaper will make viewing the screen possible in the sun.

Sun is out bright here, so I did a test. No wallpaper and contrast = 0 improves viewing in direct sunlight.

thanks for the info, was waiting for a reply to the topic ;-) btw, I am yet another person who found the 6100 to be crap.. but to each his own.

A friend of mine really cleared things up as to why the phone mfrs aren't worried that we can't see in the daylight: kids use way more minutes than business users..and kids want camera, colors and ringtones. Now it all makes sense.

After having a nice sunny morning today, I had a chance to evaluate whether the display would be visible after selecting no wallpaper and setting the contrast to as bright as possible. The display can now be seen similar to my old T720, so that is no longer an impediment to keeping the phone. I can live with the small display as long as I can see it. I have one more week to continue my evaluation before I have to select it as the keeper for the next two years.

I totally agree with klapper2001's response. I have similar issues with the LG vx6100. I had to return mine and exchanged it for the v265. Much better in reception.
