Anyone found a way to get the phone to display the date?

This has to be the first phone in a long time that dose not have this simple feature.

I just ordered my phone, so I don't know how to do it, but if you look at the interactive manual on verizon website, you will notice that the screens in that show the date at the top left and the time at the top right. Obviously someone knows how to do it.

😕

yea, i noticed that too. but what you'll see when you get the phone, that's where verizon decided to stick their banner. i want the date to show too.

Did you buy this phone at a VZW corporate store and have it activated already?

bought it at a corp VZW store. the guy did the *228 right after i paid for it. i think it depends on your plan. my plan is an older digital choice plan - my nights start at 7pm to 7am as opposed to 9pm-6pm that is offered to all plans today. i've had this for 4 yrs now and haven't changed it. looks like the programming is different for each plan.

I figured it out! I removed the banner! Just go into settings erase any text you have as the banner. save it, close the phone and viola! date should be there. It switches back ond forth between verizonwireless and the date. Also due the *228 and update the software. It should work. Due the *228 update FIRST!!!

So let me get this right. You do the *228, then the setting erase, save, close and it works? You're the man if that's the solution.

The banner setting is allready empty. There is nothing to erase. I did the *228 update and still have the banner.

Danthalas-
I did the update and it didn't work. I then tried your suggestion of putting in "date" as my banner and it didn't work either. If you could go step by step again on how you did it I shall try again.

I think you will have to wait for a software update. The reason the banner changes, either from "Verizon Wireless" to your custom banner or the date, is due to the ERI set for the America's Choice calling plan. If the update fixes this (and it will), then the ERI function will be the same, only it will switch from your custom banner to "Verizon Wireless" since the date will have its own field on the screen.

Makes sense. I was wondering if you'd know when I can expect the software update.

Sorry, I have no idea. I would think it will be some time since there should be other tweaks -- and adjustments to other uner the hood stuff. I do think the only reason the date was left off is the small screen...just not enough real estate. Good phone otherwise.

You're right, there is not that much space on the screen. We all know how important it is for Verizon to stick a fourth logo somewhere on the phone. Maybe I could charge them for all the advertising on the V265.

My 265 was purchased and activated at a VZW store and the phone shows both the date and time. However, like a prior post, I have a plan that is four years old. I think the prior post's assertion regarding plan programming may have it right; what the phone displays is plan dependent.

Select the Menu button , then select Personalize, then selcet HOME SCREEN, then selcect Home keys, then up, next scroll down to Date book, then OK. You will only need to hit one button on your phone to display date.

I hope this helps

Unless there is a software upgrade in the future, I don't believe you can get the date back on the screen after activation. I went to a VZW corporate store yesterday to the buy the phone. The working display models all had the date in the top left corner. I asked the salesman if it would be covered after being activated and he was not sure.
To make a long story short, I bought the phone and as soon as it was activated on my account, the "Verizon Wireless" banner covered the date. Every tech guy in the place attempted to remove it with no success. I returned it before leaving the store. The damn phone has verizon all over it and they need to add the logo on the display and take away the date? Bullsh!t. 👿
