I just spoke to sprint business solutions VP. There is going to be a delay on this phone. It failed a CDMA certification, and until samsung can fix the problem you will not see this phone for a while.

How can you say it failed, when it passed way back in April?

It passed the FCC testing not the Sprint testing. They are different. Although I think the post stating the phone failed is fake I just wanted to clarify the difference. The phone should not fail CDMA test because there are standards in place that it should be designed to and if it was not it should have failed the FCC tests. Since it did not fail those tests it should not fail the Sprint CDMA testing unless Sprint is diverting from the standard, which I seriously doubt, because to many phones would be incompatible. So Sprint probably is testing the phone for compatibility with its system, but if it fails anything it will not be for the reason Ozzy stated. A program capatability would be more realistic. Try again Ozzy. 😈

Does anyone have a contact that knows something at Sprint??

This phone is what I want and it was going to be my Christmas present, but not if it isn't released. The i600 would have worked if it was tri/band and/or I could work with Word and Excel on it.
MS windows mobile OS == can't work with Word or Excel
Palm OS == can work with Word and Excel.

GO FIGURE. Brilliant.

Anyway PLEASE if you know something, post here or email me. Just want to know if pre-Christmas is still possible.

Sorry to scratch the hell out of your rose colored lenses buddy but the i550 will definitely not be released on time for Santa to bring it down your chimney. According to a Scott F---, samsungs west coast director of sales and merchandising, the i550 is skating on thin ice as it is. It is feared by samsung that by the time sprint will be prepared to release the phone it may have lost its unique "beauty," and depending upon its competitors (and a release date) it may be put aside for other devices.

So, will it be worth the wait, or should I just go out and get the i500. I sometimes think the i550 suffers from the 10 lbs of s@#t in a five lb bag syndrome - lots of features, but will any of them work worth a damn. I am still waiting for that useful technology, like being able to download the name and # from the 411 call you just made... In the mean time, I guess I will settle for blurry bar bathroom photos.

If i was getting one right now, knowing there was a potential for a 550 in a few months, I'd wait.
