E317 No Video Camera?

While lookin on the samsung website, i played around with the demo and found that it didnt have the record video option. If anyone has the e317 please tell me if this jis true.

That blows 👿 Not that a video camera matters, but it would be nice to have. That isnt what makes me mad, the fact that t-mobile and at&t got them and cingular didnt. Can anyone tell me why they did this?

I was told by my Samsung representative that Cingular disabled the use of the Video recording for their veersion of this phone. I suppose it may have something to do with their network not being able to handle video yet.

Actually, Cingular's network can handle video. Nokias can do video MMS on Cingular's network just fine.

I asked a Cingular spokesperson about this a few days ago. She mentioned that Samsungs often have very limited (both small and partitioned) memory, which limits the usefulness of features like video capture. I can confirm that - it's a problem with Samsungs.

So what probably happened was that Cingular asked to have the feature disabled, instead of releasing a phone with a feature that was near-useless (crippled) in their eye. That was her guess - she wasn't specifically familiar with the E317 situation.

I have another guess - it's possible that the E31x series uses an oddball video format. I know that most GSM phones encode...
