6255i at Alltel ---- Disappointed

maximus2

Just had the 6255i in my hands at the local Alltel store. Was chomping on the bit to buy this phone for 4 months now. Then disaster struck. There is NO WAY to keep either the keypad light or the Main screen light or the Outside display screen light on for more than 10 seconds !!! Forget it. I always have my lights set for "on flip open". I realize that the lights drain the battery, but I'm willing to put up with that. I just charge the battery a little more often. So, in summation, the whole phone goes dark in 10 seconds. Then you hafta press a button to re-activate the lights. EVERY 10 SECONDS !!!! Phoooeeey.

I'm hoping that someone for Cellular One or Western Wireless or Metro PCS tell me that it's different on their 6255i, but I'm a...

Boo hoo, there are far worse things that can be wrong with a phone. The fact that you need the backlight on constantly is a make or break issue is silly. People don't buy phones because (aside from cost) for 2 reasons.

1. the phone is missing a vital feature (bluetooth, sd/mmc card, evdo)

or

2. the phone has a problem like poor reception or it drops calls.

I've read plenty on phonescoop and HoFo how this phone is exemplary in so many ways, to crucify it because you are too lazy to push a button to get the light back on is ludicrous.

You are entitled to your opinion. Keypad lighting and Main screen lighting options are important to me. Not to you. This does NOT mean that you ar...

Clever one arent you?

Such stinging insults. All I shall say is this. Forums such as these are already riddled with so much complaining about REAL problems that people have with phones, don't waste our time with piddly stuff.

"Piddly stuff" is in the eye of the beholder. Screen and keypad lighting options are important to me. On the other hand, I don't give a flying rip about bluetooth, sd/mmc, or evdo. To each his own. No-one is right and np-one is wrong. Just personal preferences.

The only thing I would see needing the backlight to stay on for would be reading??? If you're playing a game you're pushing buttons so it will stay lit. I'll admit it sucks that that cannot be adjusted, but the phone surpasses others by the outstanding features it carries.

To each his own indeed...

No disagreement on the to each his own. If you don't like something don't buy it. My point is this phone, as HolyMoto pointed out so well, is that its a full featured phone for power users, not a basic phone. If maximus2 doesn't care about advanced features such as MMC cards, bluetooth, etc then just go find a phone that will let you keep the backlights on all day, this phone obviously isn't for you.

Whats embarassing is that if you carefully read his message again all that he complains about is backlighting of the screen and keypad. Somehow you have construed that he complained about something else and I have made a fool of myself. After reading his message yet again the only thing I can see that you could possibly be misinterpreting is where he said "i can live with that" in which he is referring to the need to charge the battery more due to having the lights on constantly, not that he could live with the light issue, which i...

Paul, you should have never opened your mouth. You made a big fool of yourself. All I have to say is what the h*ll were you reading? Obviously not the same post, if so you might need a better prescription on those glasses of yours. Matter fact, make sure you took your meds cause you are obviously making up something thats clearly not there.

to put down a phone because of its back light not staying on is kind of dumb, which is my opinion but trust me I undertand we all have our on things in life we like. But what I dont get is if you dont care for the other features this phone offers, why wait for it. You can clearly get a moto v265, v262, soho or any of the phones they provide.

Actually, the entire phone goes DARK in 10 seconds. Unbelievable. Never seen anything like it. The Alltel clerk couldn't believe it either. If this doesn't bother you, buy it. It'll be a great phone for you. But if you like taking a quick glance at your phone to see how many bars you have or what time it is, don't. Look at your phone right now. Th...

Sure, except by maybe... like... hitting a key... or, y'know, USING the phone, n' stuff? 😳

Seriously though, I can't imagine judging a phone by a minor backlight preference that most ppl probably don't share. I'll certainly take a good long look at the 6255i if it ever comes out for Verizon... a friend of mine has it for MetroPCS and absolutely loves it. 🙂

Then why are you still here? Its obvious, and you've even alluded to in your own remarks, that this phone is NOT for you. You've done your civic duty, we all know the phone doesn't stay lit for 20 minutes inactive like you want. Why would someone who just wants the light to stay on consider a more expensive phone anyways?

Being a cell phone insurance claims specialist, I've heard some pretty stupid remarks by customers about their phones, but this one takes the cake. If you're unhappy with a nokia product, don't purchase it. And if you're going to post a negative message about a phone's features, please don't mention the carrier's name in the subject line. It just makes it seem like Alltel has conspired to force Nokia to make a better phone by having a great battery life (which btw, Nokia rocks at!). Alltel is a great cell provider, with excellent service. Yay for Alltel!

Thank you Kaeokekai. You are correct. Everyone IS entitled to their own opinion. But please don't ask losers like this to leave me alone. I love beating them up mentally. Your last thought was "respect each other and let it go already". You sound like a good Christian to me. God Bless. ( That oughta get the ACLU lovers - like noke, riled up !!! )

I couldn't agree more! The guy posted his opinion, and was pretty gracious about it. That's what the forum is for! Jeez.

And another thing - "If you're unhappy with a nokia product, don't purchase it."
Obviously, you're having a little trouble with the basic laws of the universe, as you cannot actually not purchase something after you bought it. Thanks.

Secondly, as Kaeokekai pointed out so eloquently, this is a public forum where ideas are tossed out for public information. Some will agree, some will disagree. And, sadly, some LOSERS like you will criticize the messenger. Now get the HELLo off of this message board and go ask mommy for some more drinking money. 🤣

Are you 12? You speak down to people for being critical of someone else then you go and give a textbook lesson on how to be a hypocrite and criticize him with some of the most childish remarks I've seen. The guy ob...

By 'using' it, I'm talking about entering a phone number, texting, snapping a pic, data usage, etc.

So let me get this STRAIGHT... you're upset because the phone goes dark after 10 seconds when you're in the middle of a CALL? Wha?

It's pressed up against your HEAD, silly... you can't SEE the phone while you're talking, unless you're on speakerphone. Why in the world would that bother you? 😳
