Have vx6100 and USB cable - now what to do with it?

I have a new VX6100 and a USB data cable. I like the phone so far. I was hoping to be able to use a connection to the PC to transfer pictures to the PC -- how might this be accomplished? I have searched some around and haven't found anything yet.

Also, the software it came with only allows addresses to be transferred, and this software looks rather lame. For example, I store my phone/addresses in Palm Desktop, and ideally I'd like to do a "one click" sync from PD to the phone. Right now, I have to export from PD, then manually edit the CSV file it generated to combine the first and last name fields, and add some headings, then run the Quicklink Mobile Phone software and respecify all the mappings that I want between the fields. It i...

I asked too soon.... just found another post mentioning BitPim, and amazingly the thing actually worked! I got the pictures out. I haven't tried any other features yet.

By the way, am I supposed to be able to use the USB modem device driver (was installed when I loaded the s/w from the CD that came with the cable) to actually dial out, to a real phone-based ISP? The Verizon sales guy said that would not work and that I'd have to pay another $50/month for data access -- was he lying to me just to sell me more stuff? (He also claimed the only way to get pictures out was to pay the 25 cents each when emailing them through the phone, but he was wrong.) I don't currently have an ISP I can dial up (have cable modem), and I don't want to si...

You probably want the data access- check a thread in the Cingular forum about a $32,000 bill that a customer got because her son was using the phone as a modem. she was charged a per kilobyte charge that adds up EXTREMELY fast

I just got my 6100 up and running and was able to connect at 115k, my Startech would only do 28.8k. I called Verizon to verify that all I was being charged was minutes of use. You need the National service at $39.99 to make it work. 450 minuets prime and unlimited non-prime. I shifted to Cingular for 10 days and when I got my data cable for the Erickson they sold me it wouldn't work without a very expensive service upgrade. I'm now back with Verizon.

The BitPim software has a section for ringtones, so I guess there is but I haven't tried this feature. Custom ringtones bore me so that's why I haven't tried.

You should try to purchase a piece of handset manager ma8032p, it comes with an advanced software that includes phonebook management, calendar sync, text messages, picture editor, melody composer, file managements, plus the data cable charges the 6100 as well! The package I got was only $ 30 bucks plus shipping, and it works excellent for my new VX 6100!

Thanks for pointing out this product; I was not yet aware of it. How would this software be for someone who normally keeps their phone book synchronized between Palm Desktop and a PalmOS device? PD can export both CSV files and vCard files; I was importing the vCard files into the phone with BitPim with some success. My attempts at importing CSV files were painful due to the import having no clue what the various columns of data were in the CSV file, making the use of such files more painful than it was worth. If I had to, I could write a simple Java program that massages the CSV file into a form that is better for importing. What is unacceptable is having multiple phone books going out of sync and having no easy way to keep them all up...

Hi, I bought this awesome little kit from an internet company, this kit is really better than the original one, and also is really better than any other aftermarket data kit, you should really buy one if you own a piece of LG VX6100! The web site I purchase it from:

All I need to say is, this kit is better than any others, and the price is really reasonable! Once you own a piece of it then you'll believe.
