Koi KX2 v. Motorola v265

I bought the KX2 a few days ago but am considering trading it in for a Motorola v265. The KX2 is a very cool phone with lots of features, but I've been having reception problems in my condo and at the office. I've also had several dropped calls. I like all the bells and whistles of the KX2, but I ultimately need a phone that has good reception and does not drop many calls.

Have any of you tried both phones? If so, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks.

uh... reception bad on the v265 but better camera and programs open faster on the kx2? isn't that like comparing apples and oranges? how about reception vs the v265?

This may sound strange, but when I first got the KX2. I could not get good reception in my home. I was going to returned it, but then I entered *22891 and got the phone roaming software update. Now I have great reception, and no it's not roaming, it's on the normal verizon network. Maybe this will help you.

Yeah... as a vzw customer I found that to be true on my kyo as well. *228, option 2 is a godsend... especially when traveling.

LOL!! Oh my god I know you are not thinking of going V265 over the KX2! Have you even held both cell phones in your hand to feel the quality of them? If not, just try this, do a basic search on previous motorola's (i.e. 120c 120e, v60c, v60i) and just look at those reviews. Motorola keeps using the same charging port on all of them. I'm not going to say anything bad but the reviews alone will tell you what's up.

I will give you this, in my opinion, the sound quality is better on the moto than the kx2, but judging everything else, spend a little money and get a better quality phone. Or spend more money and get the V710.

If you don't, then remember this, you get what you pay for. A Pinto and a Crown Victoria will both ge...

I bought the Motorola V265 and it lasted 48 hours before I returned it to VZW and went back to my V60i. Screen way too small and impossible to see in the sunlight. Otherwise I was very happy with the remaining features. I don't use the camera.

Yesterday I bought the KX2 after CAREFULLY checking it out in the sun first. So far, despite the "leftie" aspect and the fact I have to open it to turn the speakerphone on, it's a keeper. Yes, it's harder to see in the sun, but with the big screen/text it's doable.

My plan is to keep the V60i on along with the KX2 while driving near some drop-out zones just to see which one gives up the ghost first.

Too bad Kyocera doesn't have a BW/COLOR screen toggle for those really sunny days.

Since you have the phone, would you mind answering a few questions about it?

First of all, it can be answered when it is closed, correct? But does it go to speakerphone only, or can you talk normally on it while it is closed?

How much of a pain is the "leftie" aspect? Do you always need two hands to open it?

I'm considering buying it, but going from a one-piece non-flip that is always ready to be used to a phone that needs a lot of work just to answer a call - I'm a little hesitant.

Thanks

Yes it can be answered when closed and I talk normally on it that way. Somehow I think the speaker and mike automagically swap duties when it's closed.

The longer I play with it the easier it is to open with my left hand. Thumb starts the process and a little maneuver against my chest/shirt gets it open pretty quickly. My V60i was harder to flip open with one hand than this is.

I had a candy bar phone and the keyguard system really got old. Yah it's always ready to receive a call but it was a pain to make a call in a hurry.

Sounds like this could be the next "it" phone 😎. Thanks for the information.

Just to clarify some things on this phone. You can answer the phone when it is closed, but only in "normal" , not speaker phone, mode. Also, the mic and speaker do not switch duties. The mic is at the bottom of the phone when opened (the key pad side) and the hole is still open when the phone is closed. There are 2 speakers in the phone though. One where you would assume when the phone is open (on top of the screen); and then the other one is in the circle at the middle of the phone-above the screen when the phone is closed (looks like the hinge).

I like this phone a lot and it seems to get good reception. The only beef I have is the voice features. First of all, it seems to forget some contact's voice dials. It thinks there is ...
