Conditional divert activated

Feb 2, 2005, 12:35 PM
Ok, I have about 3 things to ask about. A little background first. My husband & I just purchased a family plan from Cingular & I have an LG C1300.
1. Sometimes when I call my husbands cell, our home, or even my parents' house the phone displays a message "Conditional divert activatd". Why? What is it and how do I get it off??
2. the signal strength is awful. Anything I can buy to make it stronger?? Boosters? Something that actually works? Sometimes there is just a "G" where the signal strength is suppose to be.
3. My husband tried to call me from his office and it would let the call go thru until he added a 1 and the area code infront of my number...like it was long distance even though he was only 5 minutes away....any idea why?

I can really only answer your third question.

Contact your carrier and explain to them that the assigned number is long distance when called from other lines in your area. It should be very little trouble to have a new number assigned. Note that this will give you a new number, so you will have to let all you friends/family/colleagues know and update them.

Stay away from the boosters. They don't work. That is the problem with most services, service.
It is not your phone, it is the service provider. I can tell you from experience that Cingular, T-Mobile and the ilk in the GSM (or SIM CARD) phones is crap.

That being said, if you really want to try a booster you can spend about 3-5 dollars and get one of those stickers to put on there. Place it behind the battery (on the phone itself) as far in the upper left corner near the attena as possible.

Good luck. I recommend that you ask around with friends about what service provider works well in your area, when you get enough answers you can get a good or better plan like the one you have now with that provider.

Oh, and if you can ge...
