A live VX8000 that is, at a local Verizon store 😉
Impressions: The size is not a drawback at all, its actually good- esp. if you have man size hands.
And it looks good too, better than the 7000.
The problem with it is that it is too heavy, and the weight is not evenly distributed- its more in the bottom.
The pictures actually don't look very good on the phone either, probably b/c its screen is only 176X220- but i assume they look better off the phone.
And I definitely don't like the menu system, same as 7000.
Its one of the best looking phones i've seen, if only it had a QVGA screen, was lighter and had different software 😕 I think i'd get sick of it after a while
(why is it that the screen res. seems higher on many moto phones...

Though it has many less features, I somehow think I'd feel a little more comfortable with the 9900...

The 9900 is a great phone and had the best features and best display at the time. Actually the display of the 9900 is the one the current phones have to live up to. BUT....... you are too late, it has been discontinued. 😢

You can check the 9900 Forum and do a search on how you "might" be able to find a phone, other than Ebay.

If you do not need EV-DO or are not going to use an SD card, then the 9900 has a good feature set. Otherwise, look at one of the new phones to be released.

I'm going to see how I like the 8940, but i've really been waiting for the SE S710a. Those damn bastards keep on delaying and delaying it. 😡 I should've gotten the 9900 back in October when I almost did 😢 and I wouldn't be in such a difficult position right now. You keep on saying the 8000 has a really good inner screen, but I don't like it- looks the same as the 7000 to me, pixely. 😛 Motorolas do a better job of smoothing out the image. I hope the 8940 does too. IMO phones w/QVGA screens are the only ones to get. 😉 The 9900 didn't have enough features for me (mp3, bluetooth, expansion card/ big memory, higher speed data, etc.)But its somehow not offensive compared to other phones and has the nice screen

Sorry for a typo in the last post, ie. "The 8910 has them all except the bluetooth"..... that should have been "the 8940 has them all except bluetooth......."

Like I have said, I am strongly considering the 8940, IF I like the screen. Unfortunately I have seen no indication yet that it will be QVGA, but we will find out on Tuesday 😉

I also saw dummies of the 8000 and the A890- don't listen to anyone who says the Samsung is good looking- it looks like crap compared to the 8000 😛

When i say its too heavy, that means there is a noticable feeling that it is weighing down your hand

Strange, according to phonescoop comparison the 8000 is even lighter than the 9900- that is either totally wrong or the 8000 just has a really bad weight distribution
