Just to sum up some misconceptions:
No the unit does not support AMPS, forced or not, the functionality is not in the handset.
Yes, it supports Voice Dialing, but you must program your contacts first, not like the voice recognition on the v710.
Yes, you can save Picture IDs to contacts, but it's not full-screen like the Samsung 670. You also see the contact info, such as callerID name and number.
Yes, it has an impressive speakerphone, the audio quality of which, in my opinion, exceeds its direct competitors. However, I haven't seen a mode preservation at the end of a call. This may occur if you plug in a VPA, but I haven't tested for that yet.

Does it have most of the features that its korean conterpart has? Taking pics and then zooming in on the already taken picture? I posted some videos of it a while back. I am just wondering if VZW disabled all those cool features

nice, very nice. i imagine they will do the $70 rebate or $100 rebate, i will get the phone. vzw employees get the 2 yr agreement price (no new every 2 thoug) plus the rebates, except we can upgrade every 10 months....

Correction: Once the unit is place in Speakerphone mode, the mode IS preserved at the termination of each call, but not after a power cycle.
Believe me when I say no one has an exact date yet, but if I were to take a stab at it, knowing where in the process it is, I'd say it's about 4 weeks away.
You can zoom in before you take a picture, but you can't zoom in on one that's in your gallery.

That is kind of disappointing! If you can't zoom in like on the Korean version that must mean alot of the stuff featured on the LP3000 will not be on the VX8000. What a shame

You should have 2 video clips. You need QuickTime to view them. There's a link in the email body on where to get the player.

CDG, can you use the speakerphone while the phone is closed like you can on the Sanyo phones? or do you have to have the phone open in order to use it?

this issue could be fixed but blame greedy verizon. instead of walking around with the flip closed on your belt and talking on speaker phone, they want you to buy the damn handsfree set. they did it with the v710 and theyll keep doing it until we bitch enough about it. the v710 is a good phone, but it could be a great phone if verizon didnt lock down all the features. im switchin when my contracts up. verizons in for a rude awakening. sell your stock now cause all of the pissed v710 users are jumpin ship in the near future.

you are right about that,i called motorola when i got the v710 and they told me verizon didnt want the speaker to work with the flip closed i guess thats why none of the speaker phones with verizon work with the flip closed,by the way i returned the v710 not worth the money and in my opinion its a piece of crap.
