Cingular XMB (xchange by mail)

Cingular XBM (1-800-801-1101)

Call them and get your f/w 1.30 but you must be a cingular customer to get the replacement phone and you then have to ship your old phone to them (prepaid). I got mine and it is night and day from the other two f/w versions. Don't give up on this phone just yet--This f/w is where the phone should have been when it was released for sale at Best Buy

I purchased the .342 today for $50 bucks (after the $300 rebate and ported my number from Verizon to Cingular. The sound is so-so and would like it to be louder. The features of this phone will take some time for me to figure out as this is my first smartphone. So do you think that I will be able to exchange it though XBM?

😎
I also just bought the MPX220 for $50 at bestbuy 😁. The earpiece isn't horrible, but the speakerphone is pretty weak. It's the .342 firmware with the orange sticker. I just called the number previously posted to get the new firmware and they are sending it to me free of charge in 3-5 days. Easy enough.
I love this phone already. 🙂

Did you have to send your .342 first or can you wait until the 1.30 unit arrives? Then do you go to Cingular to activate it or back to BB? Thanks.

Cingular XMB told me that they saw nothing in the record for a new software version 1.3 and that I had to exchange it at BB if I was unsatisfied. I will wait a week or so before trying my next step. In the meantime, any info here will help.

what will the new firmware (1.3?) do that the
.342 didn't fix? Do you still like this phone? I have to decide between the v551 or the mpx220. I just wonder if I'm asking for unending problems with the Mpx220??? anyone have any advice?

P>S> Q. how do they send you the new firmware.
Is it a Cd, new phone etc?

we just bought the mpx 220 from bb with a $300 rebate, if you can make it to bb by 10pm, you can get it for $50. I think it's worth the $, but don't know about the v511.

Be careful driving, if you decide to get it.

we just bought the mpx 220 from bb yesterday. How are they sending you the new firmware, i.e. cd, etc. or do you have to mail your phone to them?

we just got it and don't want to part from it right now, but don't want old software.

Thanks

OK folks, I am a newbie here but based upon the posts to this forum and what I have read at howardforums.com, the 1.30 is the newest software version (firmware). BB and Cingular say that the .342 is fine - no problems. But posts here say that picture and ear volume improve with the 1.30. Once they admit it...ha...the phone will have to be refurbished at the plant...so probably they will send a replacement which we will insert our SIM card into. I got the runaround today so I am going to wait. I ported my Verizon number to Cingular so I still do not have all the features and must wait 72 hours. Sorry for the long post but lets figure out this thing together.

The woman I talked to seemed to not know what I was talking about at first; but after being persistant, she must have looked it up or something. They are sending me the new firmware model in 3-5 business days, along with self addressed postage for me to send the old one back. Then I'll exchange the SIM card and battery and ship mine back. I got this phone from Best Buy yesterday and have experienced the lines in the photos and bad speaker volume, but neither would turn me away from the phone, even though it is annoying. Hoppefully this ROM update will be the last. 😎

what is firmware model - a cd or the sim card? What no. did you call for this info, as we called a 1-800 cing. no and no one seems to know about it. They are saying to call Moto?

We just bought the phones from bb on Friday and hate to mail our new phones somewhere.

Help.

Thanks

I'll be calling in for this new firmaware, as well being that I just purchased this phone on Wednesday. I have noticed that if your Bluetooth is on or your in profile headset, then you'll get te lines in your pictures. I noticed low volume in my bluetooth headset (motorola hs 820), but I adjusted the volume there, as well as on the handset and I haven't had any problems. I'm only having problems syncing outlook with my phone. Can anyone provide me with any assistance?

thanks for your post. We just bought the mpx 220 orange sticker phones from bb. Are these the .342 firmware?

Just read about the .342 vs. 1.30 firmware issue. Is the 1.30 that much better? Did you have to mail your entire phone back? We have 14 days return policy with bb and they don't have the black sticker phones yet.

What do we do?

Thanks

My phone is only 4 days old. The rep at the number above told me that I need to return the phone to BB. The rep said that they only handle phones that are 2 months old plus. This doesn't help me. I'm still confronted with the issue that my phone won't sync with outlook on my computer and the troubleshooting uide doesn't help me. Has anyone else successfully synced their phone with Outlook? Has anyone else had any problems syncing their phone with outlook? I'm using Windows XP.

can't wait for this answer as we'll have to do the same thing, we use Windows Prof. XP - hope it's easy.

Our phones are only 3 days old and now hearing about the .342 vs. 130 firmware - guess we can't do anything until we find out how we get an upgrade. Unreal.

Good luck syncing.

You're in the same boat as me. I just called Cingular XMB within the last 30 minutes and they told me to take the phone back to BB and request the upgraded version. Hmm....
