Sync Problems

I'm having problems syncing my phone with Outlook on my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Active Sync software three times and still unable to sync. Can anyone with this phone assist me? I spoke to Cingular's tech support today and the gentleman told me that's not Cingular's porblem. It's a Motorola problem and for me to call them. The number I was given is a fax number. Also, that's bad customer service to carry a phone and know nothing about it. I also tried Windows support, but could only find support for the MPX 200--not the MPX 220. I am baffled. I paid a lot of money for this phone and could have purchased a Treo for this price and that's all of the help I could get from Cingular. This seems to be the beginning...

A few details on your environment, and what errors you are getting would be of help. On my system (Windows XP) I installed Active Sync and it seems to work very well for me. I use the USB cable that came with the phone to sync with Outlook. The first time you plug in the phone to the USB port (after installing Active Sync), it asks you some questions about what to sync between the computer and the phone, as well as when (I use manual).

Did the install of Active Sync on the PC run without error?

Does Active Sync launch when you plug in the phone to the USB cable?

What OS are you using on your PC?

Also, since Active Sync is a Microsoft product, have you checked their knowledge base?

I have checked all of the above, as well as contacted Windows. They have troubleshooting information for MPX 200. The person that I spoke with seem to not know about the MPX 220. Motorola said that I need to get the updated firmware. I have the 0.342 firmware. Yet, BB nor Cingular Exchange By Mail wantt to take this phone back to give me the upgraded version. I have so many problems with my current phone that it's NOT funny. I might as well have the engineer's model.

What other problems are you having besides the sync issue?

The phone doesn't shut off completely. The camera won't take pictures at all--not even the ones with the lines. Pocket Explorer works intermitently.

I had the same problems you are having with .342. Since I've gotten the new firmware, I haven't had any problems with the phone not turning off. Pocket Explorer will still stop working, and if I reboot the phone it will work again. 👿

XMB told me my phone needs to be 15 days old or older to get a new one from them. BB won't exchange told me to go through Cingular. Next week, I'll just call XMB back to get the new firmware version. I have been bounced around so many times with this phone. It's not worth $500 when it won't do what it's supposed to do. I should've just bought the V551 like I started to in the beginning--less money and none of these headaches.
