HANDSET SPEAKER VOLUME - SAME ISSUES THE V60C HAD WHEN FIRST INTRODUCED?

Motorola MicroTac Lite

Is anyone experiencing the same problem that the V60c had with its speaker volume when it first was first released in June 2001?

When I hold the phone close up to my ear, the volume seems very very low. When I hold the phone away from my ear, but close enough to hear the other party, the volume is much louder. Bad wiring of some sort?

It's not a wiring issue but a software issue. Even on the V80-V600 GSM phones, they have the same issue but luckily, people can run p2kman and hex edit the SEEM files for the volume controls among other things. The default is 1 but the number can go up to 8. The setting that is accessible on the phone from 0-7 would only be 7 opening the full volume of the software setting's number so 7 would be 100% of 1 and if the number is changed to 2, then it will be louder at 7 at the user's control. My v60c is pretty loud although when I got it in April 2002, it did have the same problem that you mentioned. I think the v60i firmware fixed it as I have went through atleast 3 updates since the v60i firmware and the v60c is pretty loud. My V80 was ...

P2KMan doesn't work on the V710 unfortunately as it keeps saying Volume Failed. Do you have a Motorola USB Device sublist in device manager because P2KMan uses the P2K drivers which is used by Motorola Phone Service Tools (PST) and that's different than the Motorola USB Modem that's used by Mobile Phone Tools and other FaxModem software. If you read my message, I said I was only successful in doing it on the V80 but not the V710 yet. Someone needs to contact the p2kman author but the link provided goes to a Russian language site.

To get P2KMan even to see the phone, you need to first have in your device manager:

USB Composite Device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers

When you use P2KMan or PST, this device will appear but the...

Almighty1, much thanks for your very informative posts. Where am I able to find the P2KMan or SEEK programs that you refer to? Would it be worth it to give them a try with my V710? Thank you.

SEEM isn't a program. SEEM is something like hidden files in the software of the phone that you download, edit and then put back on the phone. Take a look at http://www.xlr8.us/hofo for the p2kman program and SEEM editing. I tried p2kman and it can't get the file listing of the V710 at all, it says Volume failed. On the above site, when you get the P2KMan from the author's site, you can extract the file and you'll see some help files which has a link to the Russian author to report problems or comments but the only problem is the site is in Russian so I can't read what it says. ☹️
